Using a store-bought Betty Crocker cake mix, I followed the instructions on the box, and the batter made enough for exactly 8 of these mini cakes. I filled them about 1/2 way with batter, then baked for approximately 20 minutes on a cookie sheet pan, and they came out perfect. I did grease the sides and bottom of each cake pan AND then put one of the liners that came with the pans on the bottom. I ran a butter knife around the edges after baking and they came out perfect. Frosted and decorated and gave as gifts. They are about the size of a large muffin (think Costco).

The cake pans get wider at the top than the bottom. Top is 4.5 inches wide, and the bottom is 3.7 inches wide.
