Beautiful heartwarming real story
Very endearing account of the life of a spunky woman who was a Jewish descendant in America in the early 1900s and her beautiful relation with her granddaughter. A great style of writing and just simply adorable and humorous and frank. Kept me reading till the end.

A beautifully narrated story/memoir
It's an adorable story of author's relationship with her grandmother. Most of the book is dialogue based, which for me made it very real, funny and emotional..

Good read but at a point it gives you a vibe that life is convenient for the affluent.

A beautiful, bitter-sweet memoir revolving around a grandma-grandchild relationship
I have never been an experimental person. I always play safe because trying something new might entail disappointment. When it comes to reading, I started trying new genres merely 2 years ago, having previously sampled only literary fiction and classics. Serendipitously, for me, the pursuit has proven successful and I have since discovered that I love reading memoirs. Bess Kalb’s Nobody Will Tell You This But Me is a unique memoir. Kalb writes it from the point of view of her now-deceased grandmother, Bobby Bell, with whom she shared a beautiful rapport. In “Nobody Will Tell You…”, we meet four generations of women of the family. The book is replete with wisdom from Bobby that crackles with wit and charm. She calls a spade a spade and is not one to mince her words. In just a few pages, the reader gets a sense of what a resilient, endearing, and self-assured lady Bobby was. She shared with Bess a relationship that she never had with her own daughter, being more of a friend and confidante to her rather than an authoritative, elder figure. Bobby also acquainted Bess with their Jewish heritage and the horrors her great-grandparents had survived. She ensured that the family’s legacy was not lost on the youngest member. The memoir is replete with phone call conversations, pictures and memorabilia that Kalb has saved over the years as reminders of her grandmother. Going back to their recorded conversations has helped Bess imagine what her grandma would’ve said in a particular situation or how she would have responded to a particular incident. There are some hilarious moments in the book and I caught myself laughing aloud many a times as I read it, which rarely happens to me.I loved the poignancy and warmth that the book radiated. The book is a testimony to the depth and intimacy of the bond they shared considering Bess effortlessly adopts her grandma’s persona and voice and the reader doesn’t doubt its authenticity even once. This is a book you must consider reading because it uplifts you even in its saddest moments.

The book is in terrible condition.
The media could not be loaded. This is like a book that you find on the roadside as a fake copy. Absolutely not worth it

Love expresses itself in various ways
The dialogue in this book reminded me of the Ice Cream Queen of Orchard Street. I take it to be the Jewish culture. I found it highly amusing. The broken relationships made me so sad and it was generational. However the way the Grandmother loved on her Granddaughter superseded that and what amazed me was how the Granddaughter understood so well what her Grandmother meant. Recommended reading.

This is a beautiful read that will brighten your day and warm your heart
I will start by saying that the writing in this novel is gorgeous. The movement from memory to memory and the style with which they are delivered is done through very pretty writing. For someone who likes pretty writing, I give this an A+ on that aspect alone. This story brought me to tears on multiple occasions and even caused me to laugh and cry simultaneously. The hope and joy that this novel gave me for the world in a dark time is overwhelming. I was unable to put the book down and finished it in two nights.Bobby and Bessie travel through all of the emotions that make us human. They are never scared to be as they are with each other. 'Nobody Will Tell You This But Me' is encouraging me to think positively about what a closeness between family members could be and is even pushing me to consider ways in which I could bring more open communication and friendship-based love into my familial relationships. I would take the bad to experience the good that is portrayed in this novel, any day. If you are looking to sprinkle some beauty onto your life, I can't recommend this novel more.

Trauerarbeit
Was soll's ??? Muss man damit an die Oeffentlichkeit gehen und versuchen Geld zu verdienen?? Eigentlich finde ich es respektlos.
