There is no question that there are other vet anaesthesia texts that contain more information, but for a general practitioner or student reference, this book is the most useful addition to the shelf. Sections on anaesthetic management of species are excellent. This continues to be one of two books I recommend to my students, and it contains none of the startling omissions of the most popular book used. The four star rating is because other books have more information in "anaesthetic considerations for specific procedures and patient states", yet this is still one of the two texts on my shelf to which I refer because in its teaching style, I prefer this book above all others. The addition of information on alfaxalone was long overdue, especially for the vet students and GPs of Australia and New Zealand, but is now rectified. Good to see Les Hall's teaching approach perpetuated.
