Fantastic insight into a world very few of us know anything about. Must have book!
What a fantastic read, very interesting insight into the world of Forensic Psychology and the person herself. I bought Kerry's books after being an admirer of her no bull shit approach to what is wrong with 'the system' and society. The book also has a humour element to it as well as the darker side of life. If you enjoy crime and the goings on in the mind this is a must have book. I have learned a lot from reading Kerry's books. I hope there are many more to come in the future. I'd highly recommend the programme that Kerry is on, Faking It (special) on Discovery + It's a fantastic watch. She's a true champion for women rights.

Less Mad, Less Bad and Less Misunderstood
I very much enjoyed this book, if “enjoyed “ is the right word. It is a well written insight into a fascinating profession by a forensic psychologist herself. How she became one, why and why she continues to practice. Some of her clients are not the best of human beings, but she wants to help, not just for their sake but more for the sake of their victims. It’s a really interesting look into several case histories. All sad in their own way. She doesn’t explain away the perpetrators crime or guilt, but lays out their background and motivations. Their frame of mind, the often shaky and warped scaffolding that their view of the world is build on. A good read. Better than a true crime read any day.

Insightful, interesting and gripping with a dash of humour!
Having read Kerry Daynes’ previous book, “The Dark Side of the Mind”, I was keen to get started on this one and it didn’t disappoint. I found it to be very well-written, and it was at various points, an eye-opener, gripping and interesting, funny, sad and both heart-warming (in how Kerry demonstrates how she has empathy and tries to understand why people behave the way they do rather than, as some people will do, just writing them off as mad or bad). It’s also heartbreaking in places to read of some of the stories behind what the individuals have done. Kerry also gives some glimpses into her personal life, and shares things with the reader, so that we get an idea of the person behind the famous psychologist status that she has earned. I don’t mind admitting thatI shed a few tears at times, and also worried for her safety, even though I’ve never met her. A fantastic book and I would definitely recommend this and her previous book, if you’re looking to learn more about why people behave the way they do.

Interesting, enjoyable, easy to read
Offers a job-specific point of view on motivations of people's actions without patronising/defending too much what they've done. Not overly emocional or pathetic. Exploring background "traumas" and experiences shaping people's personality and way they behave and demostrating this on real stories. Not easy to distinguish that from a primary psychiatric illness. The composition of the book reminded me of "short detective stories". I found it easy to read. Interesting questions for the reader at the end of the book.I appreciate the author mentioning "compassion fatigue" and reflecting her own limits. It gives the book a personal dimension. I admire her professional attittude. I did enjoy the book. I ordered Dark Side of The Mind as well.
