A 'MUST' for all parent, carers and professionals that work with children and young people.
This books takes you on a fully extensive journey of how children use, engage and love the online world. Helping us all to challenge of own (sometimes outdated) views, thoughts and opinions of how children and young people play and connect online. Giving an in-depth (but easily understood) insight into how the human brain works, online gaming, social media, online (and offline) relationships and so much more. This book does exactly what it says on the tin (or in this case front cover)....It shows you 'How to Help Kids be Safe and Thrive Online'. I will be promoting this book to all parents and carers in both my personal and profession life. It's a must.

Not just for Children! This is essential reading for EVERYONE!
This is an incredible read!Expertly researched. Insightful. Thought-provoking. Terryfying. Inspiring. All these words come to mind when thinking about this book. Cath's experience of technology is only eclipsed by her knowledge of the mind! You could be forgiven to think this book is only for those interested in children and their use of technology - but if that's your thinking then you're missing the point - we are ALL children when it comes to technology! Young and old are struggling with the technology we carry around with us every day. It has the power to connect us, but also to tie us in knots! Distraction, sleep and relationship problems aren't just things children are suffering with.As a Cybersecurity specialist, I am not well versed with 'things of the mind', and worried that I would be lost in a world of psycho-babble! I needn't worry. Caths' style of writing is open, inviting and even whimsical at times... but it's like the iron fist in a velvet glove! There is a comfort to be had, but a harsh reality we need to be aware of.IMHO I think this is a must-read for everyone. If you are in Cybersecurity or interested in the world of Cyber then this is a book for you. If you're a parent - this is a book for you. If you know someone who is using Amazon, right this second... then this book is for YOU.

So helpful to learn how to listen to your children, not just keep them away from screens
I loved this book. I thought I was fairly Ok with all of this but it did make me think twice about certain worries I had, and make me think more about things from my son's point of view. It was informative and very reassuring. I'd certainly recommend it to all parents of teens and pre-teens.

Incredibly important book!
Over the past few years, I have read every book I could find on the topic of parenting children in the age of technology. There are many fine books that I have recommended enthusiastically. This is by far the most well-researched, clear, and complete book I have encountered in all my reading on the subject.Particularly for therapists who work with today's children and adolescents, this should be required reading. Parents who are struggling to manage their children's technology journey and want a well-grounded understanding will also benefit greatly from reading this.Catherine has synthesized so much information to craft this brilliant and important book on children and technology. I am grateful to have come across it, and I hope that it reaches a massive audience, for the sake of the children.
