Works well considering it doesn't break the bank
Overall, I am happy with the chuck, it holds the blank nicely and keeps it straight and centered. The threads on the teeth are large and have a little give, so you need to tighten it down more, but that makes loosening it up after a little difficult. The prongs that it came with to tighten and loosen it are the cheapest part, so having something better (a steel rod instead of whatever sintered metal they used) will make it easier to work with.

Good for turning your lathe into a horizontal drill press
This product does what you expect it to do. Just make sure the lathe tailstock lines up exactly with the headstock. If your headstock and tailstock do not line up, the holes you drill will not be accurate. I ruined a few pen blanks before realizing I had this problem.

Good value
I have used numerous pen blank chucks over the years and they all eventually wear out. This one will as well. But it does a very good job of securing the blank tightly and in line. I recommend this chuck though I think I have used better.Bottom Line: Good, affordable chuck.

Nib on tightener broke
The tighteners aren't very strong. One of the nibs broke off in the hole while trying to use them to tighten a piece in the grip.
