Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close:A Novel Paperback – January 1, 2006

I bought this book for a Christmas book exchange that instructed to bring your favorite book to read. This was great for me, because I love BOTH of these novels by Jonathan Safran Foer, so I didn’t have to choose. The binding was very attractive, and this was the most popular option at the gift exchange (there is an option to “steal” the book from someone else when it’s you’re turn, but the book can only be stolen three times... this was the only one to be stolen the maximum number of times). I highly recommend this to any one who loves JSF or is just looking for not one, but two beautifully written novels in one binding.

I was nervous upon buying this product, due to some people saying that there were printing issues. It looked like it'd be a nice edition, though, so I took the risk knowing I'd look it over and return it quickly if any of the pages were messed up. Turns out my copy is perfectly find, not only that but it looks SO nice in person, much nicer than I thought it would. I'm very glad that I bought it.

I just received the book. It's in fine condition. Not perfect, but good enough. Here's what's getting me: It's upside down. The pages are upside down compared to the cover. Is this intentional?

I bought this book as a gift for a person who wanted one of the two titles this carries. This book has two titles of the author (bonus) in a gorgeous hardcover format that is much better in person. The aesthetics of the cover of this book add to the pleasure of gift giving. I didn't read the book but got great reviews from some of my daughter's friends who had read it before (all young adults).

Well, I was very happy with this order. It arrived quickly and in perfect condition. I am looking forward to reading the two titles by this very popular author. I would definitely buy from this seller again. Thank you!

I can’t say that I enjoy very much the style. And the story itself made me annoyed from the beginning by its jumping from the present to past. However, the moment I caught the wave, so to say, situation changed and enjoyment replaced annoyance.But not a nice surprise waited me in the middle of the book. I was under impression that ordered a new one. Looks like it’s second hand book. See the photos attached. Haven’t expected such a thing from Amazon, considering the price I pay for that.

I loved reading Extremely Loud for Foer's exquisite portrait of a young boy suffering from the loss of his father and trying to process his death through the lens of his Asperger's disease. Beautiful...

I read this book out of order, having watched the film version of Everything is Illuminated a few years earlier. These two stories are warm, touching, sad, and often hysterically funny. One of my all-time favorites.

Der Inhalt der beiden Bücher, so unterschiedlich er auch jeweils ist, ist über jeden Zweifel erhaben. Ganz große literarische Kunst, die bei Extremely Loud einfach nur schön und ergreifend, bei Everything Is Illuminated fordern und in hohem Maße innovativ ist. Beide Werke sind meiner Meinung nach absolute page-turner und waren mir damals jeden Cent wert.Als Schmankerl wollte ich mir nun beide auch noch in dieser Ausgabe zulegen und bin davon einigermaßen enttäuscht: die Qualität des hardcovers lässt sehr zu wünschen übrig! Verkratzt, teilweise abgewetzt, einfach nicht mehr so schön. Selbst ein Austauschexemplar konnte nicht helfen. Mir kam es so vor, als hätte ich zweimal ein gebrauchtes Exemplar erhalten...

I love this beautiful edition of two great books.
