Hopelessly Out of Touch
This book promises a lot but is badly put together. It shows impossibly groomed celebs and not ordinary people. The pictures do not match the text eg. on page 34 there is a quote about someone looking stunning in a short skirt while the photo opposite shows someone looking like an air hostess in uniform.Time and again the photos bear no relation to the chapter, eg. text about jackets faced with someone in a lurid green evening dress; talking about cleavage shows two models in up to the neck dresses, completely bizarre and totally confusing. The "advice" is so useless it's insulting eg. "Find a brand (of jeans) and a shape within it that flatters your figure and stick with it"; well if we knew which brand to go for wouldn't we all do that anyway? This is fine for a present if you have run out of gifty inspiration but not at all adequate for someone looking for serious style advice and management. I have returned it as I think its tone is derogatory and its layout completely random.

Condition
Very disappointed at the condition of the book. Very battered, and the spine is completely flattened and broken. To insult to injury, the Oxfam price of £2 was left on the back! Content of the book is okay, but mainly photographs of celebrities.

A bible!
What a bible. Unique in that it gives contemporary advice rather than taking the mainstream approach to style. It provides valuable information on what could be 'sleek' and what could end up being 'cheap'. Sometimes this could be just a few more inches skin being exposed or it could be the type of shoe one wears with skinny jeans or a skirt. Its sophisticated styling chic information. Worth keeping in your bookshelf to refer to again and again.

Great all rounder
This is a good book to use as a guide. You can read from cover to cover but I prefer to dig into it for inspiration. Some very good tips on how to pair colours, fabrics and yes it does cover body shapes but there are lots of books that do that. I think this goes further in helping people create a sense of style for any age, colour, budget or shape. Great price second hand so yes, highly recommend. It loses a star because it doesn't list the stockists of some of the beautiful garments featured throughout the book.

Good
This is a very good style book with lots of tips for looking chic at any age. It gives a check-list of timeless pieces that everyone should have in their wardrobe at any age...the problem is it assumes that everyone is slim or at worst, curvy in all the right places, so as a voluptuous woman of 50 I could only populate my own list with a few of the suggestions. Still good though.
