Rip off!
First of all, it comes in a plain generic box.. so giving it as a gift looks ridiculous and cheap. It includes no instructions, 4 pea sized pieces of wood, gloves and a cheap knife. Save your money!

Better for adults than kids
I think this kit is more geared towards adults than kids. There are videos to watch but they are too complicated for kids to follow along with and the pieces of wood are very small. I ordered another carving set for an few dollars more than this set and it came in a nice box and it had stencils that you glue to the block of wood and then carve around which was much easier for my son to do.

Great for beginners
My son got this set for his 11th birthday he's very excited to start carving the instruction video was very helpful & love that it comes with other tutorial videos. knife is a very good quality as well!
