Fully inbedded spy
Karl Adams, the main character in the story has been imbedded as a CIA spy for the last 5 years in the Russian secret service organization, the SVR. His deep involvement in Russian life also includes a live-in relationship with Olga, the intelligent voluptuous daughter of a Russian general. Olga is a major in the GRU, which seems to be an organization similar to the FBI. Karl and Olga work together on the cases in this story involving treason-like offenses by both Russians and Americans. Olga, trained in the Russian army, loves to participate in gunfights as a back-up to Karl when violence occurs frequently throughout the story. An enormously wealthy oligarch is thrown into the mix.Action is confined to the Baltic states and the St. Petersburg region. An Estonion female with a past relationship with Karl shows up unexpectantly with shocking personal news. This reader was left with the question of how much longer Karl's charade can continue amidst the lies to Olga, the use of both a SVR and a CIA satellite phone, persons from his past arriving on the scene, and on-going changes in the CIA administration.

Great Read
Deep Undercover as an SVR officer in Russia Karl has to fight his way through conflicting loyalties and family complications. Light weight relaxing reading as usual- Scott k owns how to engage the reader with a twisting plot but pure entertaining reading for relaxation and distraction.

Enjoyable
I enjoyed the book. There was plenty of action in reasonable amounts. For me, the twists became a bit convoluted and overly complex. Additionally, I had issues with the seeming inability of Russian intelligence to discover obvious plots and sub plots. Still though, a good read.

Enjoyable and complex
I found this to be a mix of cold war style thriller and contemporary story. There was no clear sense of 'goodies' and 'baddies' though as might have the case of a thriller written in the cold war era. The central character is embedded so deeply that he he also feels things as a Russian.

Double Impact
Another good 'un from Mr. Scott. If you like intrigue, action, and adventure, then stick with Trevor Scott. This Karl Adams series is so well done. I'm working my through all of the author's huge collection.
