Peterson ManufacturingV440 Combination Stop and Tail Light , Red

Well made item that I found on AMAZON for a great price. I bought it bc I destroyed my left boat trailer tail light backing up and kissed the curbing just enough to break the plastic housing beyond repair. The original one was a Wesbar and lasted for 18 yrs and owed me nothing and they don't make the style any more so I bought the newest design. If you look around, even different makes, all have the same basic style as this one. I know this is a R and ordered it bc I do not use the taillight to illuminate my trailer license plate. All I had to do to mount this on the left side was "turn it around". The back is clearly marked for where you put the 2 wires in. The are just pushed in and a spring holds them in place with tension. If you use the wires that exist on your trailer, make sure you strip them about 1/2" and "tin" them with solder and soldering pencil or iron. This way, the wire is rigid enough to push in to where it connects to the housing. I also drilled a 1/4" hole in the bottom of the black plastic housing to allow water to drain out after dunking them to launch the boat. The 1157 bulb is in tight and may be a little difficult over time to remove when have to but I will worry about that when the time comes. There is a diagram on the inside of the housing (have to take the lens off) to tell which direction to turn the bulb and what orientation to use putting one back in.I recommend this light and seller! **Indeed the bulb is difficult to remove over time. Have trouble doing so this year, when I saw it was not illuminating the signal light. ***Further info-had to replace this yesterday as in taking out the bulb, it pulled one of the metal contact strips right off it's measly little plastic pin/post. There was no rust but overall, have to say this is really cheaply made, which is why it is such a good price. The bulb could not even be salvaged bc one of the contact points was popping out from the bottom of the bulb.
