can only be used for lite hammering since handle is so thin and would shatter if you struck something too hard

The handle is fine while the end of the rawhide could have been tapered. However, the diagonally placed wood screw protruding between the corner of the upper handle and bottom of rawhide is ugly and concerning.

I actually bought this a few years ago, and it's still held up well. Very durable and worth the price.

Not as heavy as I wanted and hammer facing compresses and indents when seating pegs. Facing will be fine for flat surface blows. Additional weight would make this hammer better.
