Does its job & sounds the alarm
Does its job & sounds the alarm - went off at 2am one morning during July 17 in the kitchen where we subsequently found someone (me) hadn't turned off one of the gas rings completely - called out S&SE Networks & they sent out an on-call engineer who noted that there's no immediate danger from leaving one ring on & only a light reading of carbon monoxide, not deadly. The product works, the alarm is loud. Recommended.

Not recommended!
Terrible! It was fitted by an electrician who happened to be working in my house when it arrived in the post. I came home from work to find the alarm sounding, therefore I followed advice and opened all windows and called the British Gas emergency number. An engineer arrived and deactivated the Fireangel device - he was 99% certain it was faulty as it continued to sound an alarm outside the house! I was then advised that all of my gas appliances should be checked by a qualified plumber before using anything in the house - I followed the advice but haven’t had a bill for this yet but he estimated about £40 - the appliances were fine. Amazon did refund the cost of the carbon monoxide detector but I have heard nothing back from the customer department despite sending an e mail explaining what had happened. I’m very disappointed with the product and the service. I would give no stars but you have to give one to post a review.

I really like this Fireangel Carbon monoxide detector
I really like this Fireangel Carbon monoxide detector. I decided to buy it after seeing it in someone’s home. I like that it has a 7 year battery which is also the life span of the gadget. I got fed up of changing batteries in other carbon monoxide detectors that I had, and also not knowing if they were still efficient. I think this one is slightly more expensive than other detectors, but it gives you the current CO level in the room, providing there is any. Otherwise the reading is at 0. This gives you add peace of mind. It also tells you the room temperature. It comes with a very handy instruction manual which explains the different functions. It is portable and has a device to stop it working when in transit, which makes it very convenient to take on holidays. Very happy with this product.

Just what I wanted
This is a handy little unit that will either fix to a wall with the supplied screws and plugs, or stand on a shelf with the built-in plastic feet. I liked that it was a sealed unit – so no messing about with AAA batteries. It has a claimed functional life of 7 years. This makes allowance for the recommended weekly alarm test. The instructions suggest that battery life may be longer than this, but the unit itself needs replacing in 7 years. It is 5” x 3” and a little over an inch fat. The display has two modes – room temperature (?) and Carbon monOxide (CO) ppm. It only registers CO levels of 10 ppm and above. From the instruction book: 35ppm is the maximum allowable concentration for any continuous 8 hour period for a healthy adult. The alarm sounds when 50 ppm is registered for 60-90 minutes. It sounds a bit sooner if the levels are 100 ppm and within 3 minutes if exposed to CO concentrations of 300 ppm or higher. 300 ppm is only life-threatening after several hours exposure. The instruction book encourages annual testing of the sensor with a CO source (they suggest an incense stick) held under the sensor. You put the unit into a special test mode by holding down the test button. To use you just pull out the clip that prevents battery discharge and it’s up and running. Then place the sensor between 1 and 3 metres from the potential source of CO. I have some old gas appliances so I wanted to make sure they were ok. The gas fire in the living room registered 0 ppm after several hours use. The kitchen was a different story. With two rings and the grill in use it registered, momentarily 13ppm, but stayed at 10 ppm for most of the time the burners were in use. While no CO would be best, the fact it registered small amounts suggests that it is functioning as required, so I’m quite happy with it.

Great safety item. Reassuring.
I am happy with my purchase. I was doubtful due to some of the review stating that they have rested the product but it does not work. These people cannot have read the instruction manual fully as it clearly explains How it works and where to place the alarm. The tests mentioned by other reviewers are unfair.I love how these come with wall attachments and they can also be freestanding, as shown in my photo. This is a great feature as it means I can take them with me when visiting hotels/caravans etc.The manual is informative and simple to understand and wrtten in English, not translated. It is clearly intended for The British market as there is British rested safety advice and telephone numbers of the UK Gas board etc.The test is loud so I have every faith that this will work well to wake me up.The screen is reassuring as you can monitor the co2 level against the reference in the manual.I hope you found this helpful.
