Batman the Imposter

Not your average Batman
The media could not be loaded. I love some aspects and dislike some aspects of this Batman tale. I will for sure purchase the next one should there be one. It’s worth reading it’s exciting and it’s detailed. I want to give it less stars than I am but I found the writing so detailed and thought out that it’s pushing me not to be bitter about the cons.Positives firstI think it paints a realistic design of Batman’s ability to be Batman. Bikes stashed all around Gotham, introciate zip line networks, and takes damage. There’s some realism (not that any of that is realistic) that isn’t in most Batman stories.I also love the cops. The detective work, breaking down what they’ve found and what it indicates. Batman’s wealthy, trained etc. also stuff we generally miss in stories to keep the cops from coming to the conclusion that the Batman is Bruce. We seem some classic comic “blam!”sNegatives:I just don’t love the art or the design. The images often take places in front of other images, like the comic panels are placed over the top of drawn architectural art or the bat symbol and I don’t love it. I don’t like the drawing of the faces, the art is an issue to me. It’s really well drawn but dislike the styling.I don’t love how it paints Bruce, it’s probably realistic that young Bruce would be a semi psychotic nightmare. It’s not true to the character. It’s not how he’s ever been portrayed and here’s where the major rub starts for me. This isn’t a Bruce Wayne story. You could change Batman and the villains with new people and have a better story than you have making it Batman. There are traits that belong to Batman, that this Batman/Bruce don’t have. Continuing with that redesign, is Alfred. Alfred seems weak; when Alfred is by typically a badass himself. Alfred instead runs away and sends Bruce to a military school in Russia. Why write a Batman novel where the behavior of Bruce, Alfred, Batman are not related to the established behavior of those characters? At what point is this novel as much of a Batman imposter as it’s villain?Hate the ending. Is Bruce alive? Is he dead? Does everyone know he’s Batman? We aren’t really sure. If he is alive, he was let go from police custody. But we’re kind of required to take the assumption that the last few pages indicate he’s at least not acting as Batman anymore. A newspaper says he’s caught in a shooting. It could go a variety of ways. Best case, he gave up the cowl a failure and his only act as Batman is to get psychiatric help for someone clearly on the way to being a villain.Neutrals:Post Gordon Batman. Seems weird, story makes sense. He would get run out of Gotham and the cases the Batman tainted would get thrown out. The story has so much realism crafted into it and I just can’t wrap my head around if it’s good or bad. Batman being successful is the cornerstone of his comics. What about in a world where he might make things worse sometimes? Is getting the cases thrown out any worse than not killing joker all the times he breaks out of Arkham in the normal continuities? All things said and done the utilitarian impact of this Batman is probably still better than that one. Just feels.. wrong though.

Alfred would never...
It was definitely heavy on the grit.I'll be honest, I have watched a lot of Batman and have read very little, so I think my opinion shoudl be taken with a grain of salt. One of my main critiism with Batman in general is that the man needs therapy. And look, here comes Mattson Tomlin answering my prayers. It was really giving Mr.Robot like vibes in a way that mirrors his relationship with his Psychiatrist. I would have like to have Blair be a little more rounded out, but I will say that about women characters in Batman comics until the end of time. Some of the main illustrations were amazing and would be lovely to see if full gloss print. So cheers Andrea Sorrentino, some of those full spreads were gorg.Solid Batman offering, even if I think Alfred would never.

Solid Bats story
So I've had this book pre-ordered for quite some time now. I was asked to finish it in 2 quick sittings, so it's not a read that's going to drag out.I do really like Sorrentinos art, but there are frames that are to deepnif a dark to be able to flow along the story, but that's really minutiae. The plot goes along a little slow during book 1, but book 2 really picks up and 3 brings it together.I do feel the end was predictable, and it did come to an abrupt conclusion, however, it was still satisfying.I would love to see where the young Bruce goes on from after the end point of the book. All in all it was very well presented and executed in a very safe Batman manner. If you enjoy Batman, you'll enjoy this book, but don't expect it to stay logged in your top 10 Bats stories, but do expect to enjoy it.

Solid!!!!!!!!!
Love the art! Love the story! Love the whole book!! Exceptional all the way around. And I'm hard to please. Been a bat nerd for 30 plus years. I've read many many many many comics and watched all the films multiple times. This is a very solid story and creative work. One of my new favorites. Shows Bruce as the flawed and broken man he is, but also how he always seems to come out on top. Exceptionally well crafted and appreciated beyond words. Excellent 👌👍. If you like a good detective noir type story, this is the book for you. A++++

Beautiful art. Good story
Art was fantastic. The story was good too. The art was very captivating to say the least. Black label is usually good. And it continues its streak here. I wouldn't mind reading more from this same team. Good all around.

A breath of fresh air from the main continuity Batman stuff.
Batman: The Imposter is a more recent Batman comic that is set in its own separate universe. This story is very dark and gritty, and there are a lot of similarities between it and Matt Reeves' The Batman. What I love about this comic is that it shows a Batman who doesn't have an Alfred and a Jim Gordon and how he still embarks on his war against crime even if that means he could possibly die.Mattson Tomlin crafted a spectacular story and I have to say that this comic is a must read for every Batman fan!

The younger darker Knight
Awesome book. A good story, a bit obvious in places, great artwork, and a decent amount of action as well. A good idea to coincide with yge movie release to draw Bruce Wayne to look more like Robert Patterson.Imagine Batman growing up without his other father figure an angry, brilliant and still very young in his crime fighting career. He gas made his mark, but things have changed. Does the city still need or want a Batman let alone two.I really enjoyed this book and did merchant to put it down. The visuals are great and creative. I enjoyed Bruce's story. I found this of Bruce/Batman a lot darker. The fact that he gets injured and scared so much actually works for this book even more. The book finishes with a varient cover gallery.

Bester Batman Comic seit langem
Wow. Was ein Brett.
