The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya: Seasons 1 & 2 - Essentials Blu-ray + Digital

Also excellent manga. Beautifully written and animated.

The characters are loveable and the story is weird. No spoilers here but I just love this series and there's nothing else quite like it. I wish there were more seasons made. The picture and sound are great on blu-ray. So good I had to have a physical copy for my collection. Highly recommended!

I couldn't find any details or reviews for the Essentials version of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya so I purchased this product and will share what it entails. This Blu Ray comes with a Funimation Digital Copy and 4 Blu Ray discs. Disc 1 contains episodes 1-10, Disc 2 contains episodes 11-20, Disc 3 contains episodes 21-28, and Disc 4 contains extras. If you were wondering, the episodes are presented in chronological order and not in air date order. The picture quality is sharp and the sound is good. I hope this review helps others looking at this and wondering what's the difference between previous releases of this title.

If you want to revisit this series but are fearing the return of Endless Eight, it is entirely quarantined within 8/10 episodes of disc 2. Conveniently also provides a way to skip most of the Endless Eight episodes on the top menu. A++ wish I could have done this when season 2 aired.

This DVD set is NOT like the previous releases of the series. The original series broadcast on television and sold on DVD had an awkward and inaccurate order of events. This DVD set has the events in the proper order, which also means the introductory and ending sequences for the different release periods can seem a little shuffled at times.The subtitles are a little wonky, too, but most people don't have a great appreciation for grammatical accuracy, so it's unlikely to bother many buyers.Seriously, though. Buy this, even if you have the original DVD sets.

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya: Seasons 1 and 2 (Fantastic Series)One of my friends introduced me to this series online and I feel in love with the characters. I had Season 2 on DVD but I could never grab Season 1 for a reasonable price. I'm glad amazon had the series on Holiday sale for $29.99. I love the set I haven't gotten to the extras yet but I'll definitely take a look when I get there. :) I recommend this anime to anyone who enjoys aliens, time travelers and espers. :3

Altering this because the third picture does display that the digital copy is funimation. The studio is listed as Crunchyroll, which is true now. However, the company that did the digital copy was FUNimation, which has been rolled into Crunchyroll. Crunchyroll has discontinued the digital library and this information is not shown anywhere on the product. I'm still excited to have my favorite anime, but it's so saddening that I can't take it with me. Hopefully they update this to remove the digital copy, because it sounds like the digital copy is non redeemable

Great anime for the price

Pienso que esta es un artículo más bien para fanáticos, la resolución de imagen no es muy diferente a las de streming, pero siempre es bueno tenerla en físico. Ojo, no trae sub en español, solo en inglés.

Eu fiz questão de comprar o blueray, pois além de caracterizar muito o estilo de produção da ''KyotoAnimation'', o anime também marca uma época muito importante da minha vida. Uma obra prima, que toca em pontos fundamentais da ficção, uma produção difícil de não se apaixonar. Lembrando que não vem junto com o filme, se estiver interessado, terá que comprar separadamente.

Staffel 1 noch halbwegs unterhaltsam. Staffel 2 besteht zu mehr aus der Hälfte aus einer Zeitschleife, in der sich eine Folge achtmal (!) wiederholt. Trotz Vorspringen haben mich am Ende dieser Tortur die Figuren so angekotzt, dass ich keine Lust mehr hatte weiterzusehen. Wenn man dann noch den Preis betrachtet, bleiben nicht mehr viele Gründe übrig, sich die Serie zu kaufen.

I wanted to watch a few episodes and extras before writing my review. What you get is the series on BluRay plus one disc of BluRay AND DVD of extras (both seem to have unique material on them). The cover is reversible so that you can easily see the various viewing orders. Such a interesting and important series, it would have been nice to have a deserved information booklet to get people "in the groove" as they say. For people unfamiliar the original series was released OUT OF ORDER in 2006. Then in 2009, or three years later; the same series was re-released in order, and with additional episodes added in (for a total of 28 I believe). The added episodes got upgraded animation - to include the evolution of the quality that happened to that studio during that time WHILE RETAINING the look and feel of the original. Those new episodes also get a new intro and concluding songs.The stories are very well produced with an outstanding storyline that keeps the viewer engaged as they build and build like an unfolding solution in a detective novel. It is profound and intelligent in giving an ENORMOUS amount of credit to the viewers to be very good thinkers and ponders -- perhaps romantics too.The extras feature, by enlarge the Japanese voice actress for Harushi -- she is very likeable and it makes the extra's interesting to watch; although I wanted more direct content on the actual material in the BluRay and not on the offshoot products that I'm not sure are in North America so much; and certainly it needed more context to those unfamiliar with what they are on. There was a nice walk through of the studio, which was interesting. I did find out that she is very talented -- a good singer and quite the talent.I highly recommend this series, it is targeted .. I would say NOT at children .. but at teens, and adults who are young at heart. I sort of felt early on that it was how I wished high school was really like -- a great experience instead of the awfulness that many people anchor to high school. It is almost "healing" as it is such an insightful production.Lastly, this series is the foundation for what is considered the 1-3 best anime's every made .. the outstanding ..  The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya: The Movie [Blu-ray + DVD ]. The movie that followed in 2010 (it got to North America in 2012); received a well deserved movie budget and backing; and is simply brilliant.Both the series and movie are recommend .. absolutely! Haruhi Suzumiya is an amazing Anime with a protagonist who definitely belongs on the villains wiki, i love this anime but sadly this isn’t going to work on Australian dvd plays/playstations/xbox’s so if your in Australia, make sure you have a dvd player that isn’t region locked
