the graphics were superb and played a significant role in helping to get a good sense of a site before a visit
As with all DK books I have used, this one proved again the excellence of the travel book series. The information provided by the book allowed for a very informed visit through Belgium a few months ago. The information on points of interest, culture, shopping, especially museums proved very helpful in planing and taking advantage of available time. Also, the graphics were superb and played a significant role in helping to get a good sense of a site before a visit.I highly recommend this book to a prospective traveler to Belgium.

The better guide book to Belgium!
This guide put the Rick Steve guide to shame. The informations are not influenced by bias. The maps are usable (unlike the one in the aforementioned guide). Beautiful color photos and graphics instead of cheap black and white. Covers all of Belgium instead of 4 cities. Better organized. The informations are up to date and can be used without use of tourist city maps. Overall better presentation, much better organized, include basic road maps which are very helpful.

Very informative, beautiful photos, maps, great book
I’ve always liked the DK Eyewitness books. This one gives you history of both countries, maps and info of everything to see and do in each city, and lists of restaurants, hotels, museums etc. Only negative which applies to ALL their books is that because they’re made of thick paper, they can get heavy to carry around, but this book is more slender than others because these are smaller countries.

Invaluable!
I use DK Eyewitness guides for all my vacations and I love them. Wouldn't dream of going without one. Pair it with a pocket guide to any major city you're planning on including and you're "golden". Oh, and if you're traveling abroad, be polite and practice a few practical words & phrases that can be found near the back of your DK Eyewitness. Such as ... Yes, No, Please, Thank you, Where is the bathroom? What time is it? Reconciliation/cheque please, etc. Your host country will appreciate your effort in attempting the simpler language tasks and you'll be a better traveler for it. BTW Belgium is GREAT! Best abbey beer on the planet. Chocolate so good it's indecent. People are wonderfully laid back. Nature abounds. Cuberdons are the bashiznit, no lie, stock up. Do eat the waffles w/chocolate sauce at La Citadelle restaurant in Dinant. Do fondue somewhere, yummmm.
