Q: nowhere on the tape are any instructions or anythng to suggest its fireproof.how do i know it is the right product?

In a fire, the adhesive and the coating catches fire and burns. I know this because I just peeled off a section of the tape and held it in a gas flame with tongs. I would not use this tape anywhere near a flame or hot metal item. I would not mend the barbecue or vehicle exhaust with it. I think you need the more expensive but much better quality and function stainless steel tape. I had a reel of that which I used to use to fix everything! This tape is not very good for anything except what its purpose is which I think is sealing air ducts. I would not use it for anything hot. And I think there are other aluminium tapes that do better. They say it is heat resistant but that is too vague and quite misleading in my opinion.

No. It is very thin metal tape, like cooking foil. Its insulation properties are low, given that it is metal foil.
