The Initiation: 1 (Filthy Rich Americans)

Dark, depraved and devastating with it's tragic brilliance.
Give me a minute to collect the pieces of my heart and my scattered emotions before I tell you my reactions after reading The Initiation by Nikki Sloane. It's been a while and I am still staring at my kindle to figure out what just happened. Other than the fact that Nikki Sloane has thrown me for a loop with this edgy, sexy, dramatic and intense story, I am not sure about anything anymore. The Hales are almost royalty with their obscene amount of wealth and incredible power. And Marist has just become a pawn in the game between the king and the prince. A ruthless, dangerous, mysterious game for control over the empire that has only one rule. And that is no rules if it means you are winning. Marist was never supposed to be caught in middle of the war but she has decided to hold her own fort. Trust is a luxury now and love is a mere distraction. Royce is a difficult character and complicated beyond my grasp. I don't know which is his true self anymore. The soft, caring, lovable Royce or the cold, emotionless, cruel Royce. He is arrogant, confident, gorgeous and every good thing but he can turn into a sinister version with blink of an eye. And here lies the author's brilliance. She has made me puzzled and curious. And for the love of god, I can't decide what to feel. The story was worse than walking through a minefield. The punches came from every direction and I couldn't down my guard for a second. The suspense was killing me at every turn. And it had some dirty filthy turns for sure. The ending was too much and I didn't see it coming. I adore Marist's strength, loyalty, compassion and smartness but my heart is aching for this amazing woman. I despised every one who made her suffer. The mindblowing story gave me palpitations and goosebumps and dizziness. In one word an adrenaline rush. The Initiation by Nikki Sloane was dark, depraved and devastating with it's tragic brilliance. It had sultry desires, alluring chemistry and sensual mystery wrapped in the author's sensational writing.Received ARC for Honest Review

Page turner
I enjoyed a few books in this author's previous series and her latest is very promising. It is compelling and edgy erotic romance that reminds me of some books I've read by Sierra Simone, Skye Warren and Stylo Fantome. The only downside is the story ends in a cliffhanger and it appears the conclusion is not for another 2 or 3? books. For someone like me who has limited time and wants to cover as much authors as I can, it is quite a time investment. But I enjoyed this one and would need to read next books.

Loved and hated this
I hated this story but boy is it gripping. I don't think I like any of the characters, they are selfish, privileged, vile people. Even Marist's innocent character at the start quickly has you screaming "open your eyes, he warned you!" All the while you're hoping you're wrong and the story is going to turn good .The plot is gripping even though I was shouting at the treatment of Marist and the sick games that are being played and stupidly allowing them to make her their puppet. I will be getting the next book as I want to know what happens and if Marist can reek revenge and get out of the situation or turns the tables on the Hale family!Whilst I start by saying I hate this story in my mind that is why I have given it 5* because of the reaction the author has made me have to the story line and her characters.

I am shooketh!
The blurb caught my attention, but I went into this thinking I’d hate it. Not the type of characters and plot I like to read about- but boy, was I wrong!!!! This novel is fantastic. I ate it up in an evening and night (thank goodness I don’t have work tomorrow to wake up for) as my mind wouldn’t allow me to sleep until I finished the book. I really want to believe Royce and I’m hoping I’m right. Going to order the next book in series now. Reading a few more chapters can’t hurt, right?

4.5 stars
This book omg!!!! Such a quick, captivating read. I loved every second of this book, I was invested from the beginning and I was fascinated by the chemistry between Royce and Marist. I loved how dark and twisted this story was and how it captured the old money, high status society. This was a book full of jaw dropping moments and twist and turns (THAT ENDING!!) and steamy moments. I love how I couldn’t decide whether or not if I could trust Royce and tbh I still don’t know. But overall LOVED this book and I would definitely recommend!!

Oh Royce, oh no!
How refreshing to read a book with original ideas (twisted though they may be!), descriptive language that is so very well used and no spelling mistakes! I'm now waiting for the sequel to arrive via the ether as I anticipate just how our much maligned, beautiful heroine will get her just desserts.
