This thing is incredibly sharp. I tried to zest a lime and the micro blades dug in and made it very difficult to move the lime over the blades.. After about 1/4 of the way around, I felt that I would probably cut myself and switched to my old style citrus zester (which is not a microplane). When I tried to put it away the microplane section separated from the frame as I was snapping on the protective shield.It doesn't seem cheaply made, but it did fall apart and prior to falling apart it required wrestling with the lime. Bad idea with fingers so close to micro blades! I think that using a microplane for zesting small citrus is an inherently bad idea.
