Absolutely tiny.
Bought this based on the price assumed it was 500 grams (it's about the price of 0.5-1 kg given how overpriced saltpeter is on here) and it's tiny! It's about 100 grams. So you're paying 5-10 X as much as you should buying this product, for metric system users (i.e. everyone who isn't in the US) shop elsewhere! This is overpriced and undersized. You won't even be able to process a leg of ham with it.

Good for Home Meat Curing
Shocking how tough it was to acquire Saltpeter!! My husband wanted to make his family's traditional Norwegian Rullepolse recipe (a deli loaf made with lamb & veal). He didn't want to use the Tenderquick I brought home in desperation, he wanted the real deal. Now I know for sure Amazon has everything. The USDA obviously thinks home meat curing is dangerous and best kept to a minimum? 4 oz was much more than we needed, but maybe I'll look up how to use the rest in plant food , as some of the other posters have reported.
