Northfield Sportswear Men's Softshell Jacket, L, Black

This is a rain jacket with removable hood. Quality is not bad for the price. One thing of note, the body of the jacket is straight and not tapered. Purchased a small size and it seems slightly longer in the body than pictured. My 11 year old son likes it. Not sure about durability as we just received it.

Good quality jacket. The zipper is on the wrong side and the zipper is incredibly frustrating. I'm almost certain it's on the jacket backwards and it's difficult to get zipped every time.

My 88 yr old father is moving from Fla to NY to live with me. Lets just say he's going to need a few additions to his wardrobe ... and this jacket will be the perfect start for once the Fall weather kicks in.I'm super impressed with this jacket. The stitching and construction are solid and well made. It's a nice weight - heavy enough to keep his body heat in and light enough to pack easily for day trips. I find that jackets like this that have the longer flap in the back keep you warmer as there's no draft up the back. The velcro fasteners on the wrists are perfect for my father as well as they adjust quickly and easily. And of course the hood will be welcome when we get any wet or frozen precipitation. All the zips function properly and are easy to start.Certainly if he decides he doesn't like it, it will find a home with me.... my Dad is lucky I love him because I'm tempted to keep it for me, LOL.I received this for a discounted rate in exchange for my time to work with this product so I can write a fair and honest review... however, I only accept review items I need so I can give them a real trial, and thus my opinions and experiences are a real and true reflection of my experience with the product. This is a very comfortable softshell jacket. While it says it is a mens jacket, I am actually planning on using it for my self. It has a soft fleece lined inside and pockets. The zipper is real easy to open and close and has a little tab to pull on. There is also a velcro tab at the end of the sleeve incase you want it to be tighter around the wrist. The hood is attached with snap buttons. It can easily be removed and added again. On the back side of the jacket it goes down a little bit to cover the bottom of your rear. This is a nice feature as when out during colder months it gets cold quickly if the jacket do not cover much on the rear. Overall it is a very nice comfortable jacket that is both wind proof and rain resistant. I think this jacket is great during colder months, but it is not too heavy. I was fortunate to purchase this jacket discounted. In exchange I am giving my honest and unbiased review.
