Straight forward author who can spin interest in everything he writes. He's A good author and I recommend all that he produces. He's one of my top ten authors I routinely pick out of the over 300 Kindle that I have read.

good tale%
It’s a quick read with interesting characters. Reminds me a “little” bit of the 2 years I spent in and around Vietnam. Beautiful country and people destroyed by a conflict that shouldn’t have happened.

Gripping and very very real
I have read several of Eric Helms novels and they put the reader right there: hiding in a drainage ditch being shot at, orOut in the open with mortar rounds exploding all around you. When crawling to safety one needs to look out for hidden mines or cleverly disguised booby traps. This is all so very real and must have instilled terror into the young American combatants. On the other hand these young Americans enjoyed overwhelming technical superiority and sheer firepower, being let down by meddling politicians and inept leadership. This really is a “must read” book giving a brief snapshot of the Vietnam war.

Body Count
As a military man of that time and place I can empathize with the soldiers in field versus the REMF general staff. Thankfully, they were not all bad but enough were to deny support to the grunts. The real villains were the politicians who got the US into an unwinnable conflict. Gritty and bloody. The author tells it like it really was.
