Great
I'm a beginner using this glass bottle cutter and I must say I'm impressed. I rather the kit rather then just the cutter itself as you want to cut the bottle the right way.

It works after careful preparation- negative reviews are user error.
Anyone rating this less than 3 stars is doing so because of user error. That said, the instruction are kinda inconclusive so it's going to require some critical thinking skills to get right.I only got this wrong once, on my initial try so let me leave some best practices:¹) When setting up the rollers and scoring wheel, all you need to do is lay the bottle down and adjust until all roller wheels and the scorer touch equally. Take the bottle off, tighten everything but the scorer. Raise the scoring wheel 2mm then tighten.²) The L bracket you attach to the rear that folks find too flimsy is guaranteed user error. Think about the pressure when the bottle is pressing against it and then realize the first tightening knob needs to be as forward as possible to minimize flex.³) Speaking of pressure. Once you are ready, use both hands to apply even down force on the bottle and then slowly rotate the bottle allowing yourself to hear the scoring wheel doing its job. Do not try and use the L bracket as a be all end all stopper or it will flex and you wont have a clean scoring line.In the end that's what you want to achieve - a single scored line. You dont want to rotate fast... the average bottle should take around 20-30 seconds to rotate only once. Just keep a decent amount of pressure with both hands rotating the bottle inward (if the bottle was free it would roll towards you, not away is the correct direction to roll it). The second the scoring line matches back up your hear the scoring wheel scratch the glass in a new way. You're done. Now I didnt follow their directions at all for much of the actual water finish. What I did was place both rubber gasket bands next to each other instead of sandwiching the scored line. I placed them between my hand holding the base of the bottle and the scored line within less than a centimeter.I used the bands as a way to block the hot water from running down the bottle onto my hand. Now the water itself. I filled a kettle and got it almost to boiling (steaming a lot) then ran a large plastic bowl under my faucet with cold water constantly running into the bowl. I would slowly pour hot water onto the scored line counting to 20... the rubber bands blocking the water from running down the bottle to my hand holding it. Then I would stop pouring the hot water and the put the scored line section under the cold water for 10 seconds. Then back to pouring hot water for 20 seconds. I only needed to repeat once for it to work every time. The bottle splits and falls into the plastic bowl safely.I then use sandpaper I bought and do the wet method with the sandpaper covered in water at all times to collect any glass dust. Make sure you apply enough pressure here as well. 80 grit until the bottom is flat and dull, but the edges are still jagged internally and externally. Then 150, then 220 then 400.... after 400 you could stop and go on to repeat for the inner and outer edges... that is sufficient to be safe, but I continue and do 1000 and then finally 2000. Once that is done, repeat the order for the inner and out edges. The photo here is of my second glass I attempted. It has soap only because once I took the top off I realized there was green mold and had to wash it... which was a bit dangerous since the edges were brand new. I'm including the photo to show exactly what that scored line should look like. This is a great starter kit - get it!You'll have a professional lip in about 20 minutes for every glass if you are diligent and dont pause much.

Fun and Great for Crafters
A novel device for crafts and it does the job it was designed to do perfectly. For such an affordable price you get a lot of kit. Included are screwdrivers, manual glass cutter, gloves, extra cutting blade, a glass hole drill bit, sponge brush, rubber rings, glass hole saw and sand paper. That's on top of the jig itself. The jig is easy to set up and easy to change or move parts. Most bottle sizes will easily fit this jig and I've tried on a few with very positive results. Only smashed one bottle so far and that was my fault. The instructions make it clear how the cutting is achieved and it's easy to follow and do right. It's a great item for fun or crafts. There's plenty of nice items that can be made from empty bottles such as lights, money boxes, glasses, vases and candle holders.Overall this is a really fun item, what you do with it is only limited by your imagination. It's ideal for crafter's and diy enthusiasts. I'm really pleased with it.

Gutes Produkt
