Good selection of colors
As previous reviews before, some of the colors are quite thick and some are thin. I like the selection of colors and have used these often for underglazing clay pottery before bisque firing for soft colors. A second coat of colors to deepen colors and sharpen lines, then clear glaze, and the results are quite good, even though I am just a beginner. I would recommend this selection to anyone wanting to experiment with colors, don't be afraid to mix and match!

Be warry
The glaze is very lumpy and difficult to use.. I’ve learned that this is because it’s been frozen..can’t say I love the colours and my last attempt at using the red with speedball clear glaze over resulted in blistering all over.. Never had so much difficulty with any other underglaze product..

Some trouble....but they replaced glaze.
I had really hoped these would be good. There had been good reviews on them and the price was affordable. The wide assortment of colors made this an attractive purchase. Sadly, some of the colors are like grit, and adding water and shaking does not seem to help. It is like trying to glaze with toothpaste! The brown was the worst. I wonder if this is normal for this product or did I get an old, or somehow damaged set? At any rate it has been frustrating trying to use them. And seems like a waste of money, too. I wish I had not bought them. NOTE: I contacted the Speedball company. The glaze may have accidentally froze before I received. They replaced the ruined colors. I was happy with their customer service.

So clumpy
I have had mixed results with the colors and they are so clumpy and easily dried out. Think I’m going back to amaco velvets.

The Speedball underglazes are great. I apply them on bone dry pottery then fire them on a bisque fire, then apply a clear glaze over that for the glaze fire. Easy to use and I like the way they look after the glaze fire. This little set with the 2 oz were a great way to start so that I could see if they liked these. Then I bought the larger 16 oz sizes for a variety of colors, because it is more cost efficient doing it that way. I considered trying the Duncan EZ Strokes but the Speedball underglaze sampler pack is less expensive than the Duncan EZ Strokes sampler pack. And when I contacted the rep from an online ceramic store he said that the products are basically the same, except that Speedball is a new product and less expensive.

Impressed
Ive used these underglazes with a few different techniques, all fired to cone 6. They stay true to color. Easy to work with and will be purchasing more

Unuseable
Awful. Grainy, thick. Needed to be strained, otherwise unuseable, resulting in a lot of waste. Colors not good.

Vibrant colors at cone 6
I’m very happy with these underglazes. I was a little concerned about color fading at cone 6 as the pictures only show up to cone 5, but they’re more vibrant than I had hoped. They blend easily and well. Photo shows before and after, using individual colors alone and mixed to get intermediate colors. With a clear glaze on top, the colors really pop.I highly recommend these. They work well, give great color, and are very affordable.
