Screamadelica: The Singles

This was too expensive for me when it came out - I still own 3 of the 12" from back in the day, although they are very well played and a bit tatty, plus my old 'Dixie Narco' cassette. I've been keeping an eye on the fluctuating price of this over the past while, almost pulled the trigger at £78 but glad I held off because I grabbed it at a shade over £68!I seem to have lucked in vinyl wise - apart from a couple of discs with a slight warp, all play perfectly. The only issue on that front is that the 2 'Loaded' discs have the wrong labels - a fault throughout the batches. I've swapped the discs into the correct sleeves, slightly annoying but hey ho.The biggest issue is that I received one of the boxes that have been assembled wrongly - the 12" contents sticker has been glued on to the wrong side of the box and upside down so if you store it intuitively with the sticker to the left the spine reads upside down and the front painting is upside down. Allegedly there were 600 like this. I guess I could return it in the hope of getting a 'correct' one but then the vinyl quality may not be as good so I think I will accept the oddball packaging since the vinyl is good...

All 10 records played perfectly with zero pops or clicks. Seems to be a lottery if you get good pressings or not since others have complained about issues.

Love the Weatherall 12" and a nice touch with the words on the run out grooves.Quality collection, shame I bought it at full.price and I get to see it go down!!! Ha ha

The music is amazing and anyone heading for such a bespoke, collector’s item will know this.This is one of those annoying (but hopefully helpful if you’re thinking of buying) reviews about the quality of the item. The box set itself is a thing of beauty - really well put together.The vinyl pressings - that’s the problems. I’ve had 4 different sets sent to me and have now given up and sought a refund. On each occasion, the vinyl skips and jumps about (on multiple records in multiple places). I’m unclear as to whether this is a fault at source or the way Amazon are storing these box sets.Amazon customer service have been no help. I don’t think they really understand what the product is or why the fault would be a problem.Really sad as this should be an amazing set.

I bought this in good faith from Amazon and now have to return it for a second time as yet again the same faults are present. For a start the 1st 12" has the Farley mix when it should have the original mix of Loaded on it and the second 12" has the original mix of Loaded when it should have the Farley mix. There's also an annoying click on the 1st track on the b side of the original 12" about halfway through the I'm losing more than I'll ever have and a skip on the American Spring mix of Higher than the Sun. Not what you'd want or expect from what you're spending at £110 which is the price I originally paid for it as I pre-ordered it. It's a pity as it's very well presented.

Can't fault the music and the concept. However, 180g vinyl etc etc counts for nothing when Sony can't even oversee production of a flat pressing that doesn't look like a bowl sitting on your turntable.

Absolute classic 12" collection, well replicated.

It is unlikely that anybody reading the reviews is new to Primal Scream, and in my opinion it still sounds fresh and relevant today. The box set is not of the best quality, which lets the product down. Mine was bashed up, but didn't look like there had been much resistance! I ordered another, and have been waiting since last week for the delivery, which is now said to be this coming Thursday. Odd then, that I bought mine using a Prime account, that I've had to wait, especially as if I order now, it will get here sooner.
