The Field Guide to Wildlife Habitats of the Eastern United States

Great for eastern readers and informative for others too
“Field Guide to Wildlife Habitats of the Eastern United States” by Janine M. Benyus At first blush this book seems somewhat simplified, or perhaps “amateurish. The descriptions of various wildlife species are “elementary” and the descriptions of habitat types, though good, are not overly extensive. But as one proceeds through the book they begin picking up subtle but important cues and defining nuances that help the reader understand the nature of the “uniqueness” of the different habitat types. Any of the many, many outdoors folks who glory in the Appalachians, the Appalachian Trail and the Blue Ridge and the Smokies should find this book particularly worthy.

Great Resource Material
I appreciated the layman's terminology and the black and white sketches in this guide. As a Pennsylvania native, I found this field guide to be "right on." Easy to understand. Gives the highlights for the flora and fauna of the region. Great resource for the armchair naturalist, too.

habitats
This is a cool book. I enjoy the concept of learning by understanding habitats. This is a different kind of field guide. It helps you understand how trees, plants, etc all work together and form habitats. Nice book.
