Spear and Jackson RIDDLE Steel Frame Garden Riddle, Steel & 4062NB Elements Dibber - Brown

I got done over with some junk top-soil full of stones, and I'm too impatient to wait for Screwfix to get one in store so I bought this... my god it's addictive.Swirling it round like panning for gold; the soil cascades out like a misty cloud of joy, leaving all the troublesome stones behind rattling with rage ahead of being bagged.I got the 9.5mm one (3/8 in old money) and by the time I've tilled it all in with some decent stuff and the existing pottery-clay, I should be ready to grow a lawn for my dogs to ruin.Seriously though this thing is really well made - sturdy and strong; worth every penny. In fact, I've yet to have a single poor product from Spear and Jackson; they're my go-to these days for the garden.

Spear and Jackson have never failed in quality in over 50 years of using them. Coming from a family of smallholders I grew up using Spear and Jackson implements and have inherited some that are 70 years old now and still going strong. I bought this to replace one of my inherited riddles that was still working well but the paint had peeled off and had rusted I fancied this nice shiny one. Works as it should and I’m really pleased with it. The secateurs are really strong and chunky but sit in my tiny hands beautifully and my husband huge chunky ones so nice. Really good grip and just slice through pruning jobs easily. Again so we’ll made. Well worth paying the little bit extra, and I’m so surprised at well priced they are for the quality. Very pleased with them.

Well designed - Rigid and sturdy. The sifting plate works well with dry or damp soil, sandy or slightly clay-rich.Good quality - Manufactured to a high standard, the item has remained rust-free despite extensive use in wet conditions.Good value - Bought at £13.05. Since I believe that I can expect years of good service, I consider this item to be very good value.

This is a good sturdy riddle. I have used it for soil as normal but I have also used it to wash buckets and buckets of gravel and it has tolerated all the knocking about with no problem. The first arrived slightly pushed in at the side (it looked like the box may have been walked on) but it was replaced within a couple of days, no question, with a free return and the second one arrived before I even made it to the parcel shop to do the return. Excellent service.

This Spear and Jackson riddle looked great on arrival.In action, it allowed slightly larger stones and other material through, but that didn't matter for me as I didn't want to remove the smaller stones.I forgot to put the riddle under cover a week or so ago. My own fault, I know, but I was disappointed to find rust marks showing on what was supposed to be stainless steel. It wasn't difficult to rub the rust off and apply WD40 but nevertheless it left me wondering whether I'd paid too much for something that might not be as robust as I'd hoped. Time will tell!

I have manually riddled far more dirt and pebbles with this device than any sane human being should ever have to. It does an excellent job. I am strongly of the opinion that I would give up long before it would.

We have a mole in the garden. It throws up huge molehills now (I suspect it must be the size of a badger!) and my main issue is that stones and bits of pottery are brought to the surface and have to be removed before mowing. Now, I scoope the mound into my riddle, sift the earth back over the grass and turn out the bits left behind out of the way.

It was a nice size and it really helped with my gardening I would highly recommend it it wasn’t too heavy for me
