Great for adding nice glowing side dot markers to any instrument
This product comes with a small pipe of Luminlay that is enough to do up to 12 side dots for a 24 fret instrument with just a bit left over. I used a couple drill bits, one to make a pilot hole and then one that was the width of the Luminlay inlay, going about 3 to 4mm deep. Super glued the piece of luminlay into the neck using a small hammer to seat it in the hole. Clipped the protruding pipe with wire cutters as close to the neck as I could. I used a small fine toothed file and extra fine grit sandpaper to get the inlays flush with the neck. Extremely pleased with how these look and function. I use a small black light LED flashlight (that was also purchased from Amazon) to “charge” the dots and they glow nice and bright (as you can see in the pictures) for quite a long time.

Great inlays!
Replaced the white 2.5mm side marker inlays on my Jim Root Telecaster with these 3mm Luminlay with black outlines. Hand drilled out the old fret markers then pre cut the Luminlay to 3mm depth and pre polished with 1200 grit wet sand. Used super thin CA glue with whip tip.

Works
I installed on a tele kit I’m building. Not sure how long the ‘glow’ will last. Has to be ‘charged’ with a bright light. Reminds me of a glow in the dark yo-yo I had about 50 years ago. In regular light the black outer ring is easy to see.

It’s just a 3inch rod
Meh, I wasn’t impressed with it. I don’t think this is worth the money they ask for, it’s ridiculous. I ended up buying some glow in the dark dust here on Amazon for $12 mixed it with epoxy and it glows exactly like this rod, and I mean exactly. The only difference here is the black cover around it, but I made it with piece of 14-12 gauge cable insulation, filled it with the epoxy mix and it turned out exactly like this one. Just offering an option here.

Does it do…yes. Is it over priced for a 3” piece…yes

So far so good. Just wish you could get a bit more for the price.
This stuff is cool. I have tried alternatives including trying to super-charge other glow materials - nothing really that close. I have one Charvel guitar that had these pre-installed and they are grewat. The glow on these is excellent and long lasting compared to anything else I have seen. I tested installing just one dot so far on a new project, and yes I believe I can get one guitar completed with the few inches sent. But gosh, I really wish I could order a couple feet of this stuff at a much reduced per-inch price. It would be in all of my projects.
