Digitally re-mastered edition of this 1978 album from the Punk band led by Adrian Borland, later of Post-Punk legends the Sound. The Outsiders played many a gig at the Roxy, opening up for the Jam and the Vibrators among others. Live, The Outsiders often covered 'I'm Waiting for the Man' as well as 'Raw Power', the latter of which Iggy Pop himself showed up and helped with the singing on at one memorable Roxy gig. Cherry Red.

fantastic reissue
and here we have the second and last release by this very overlooked london punk outfit that later turned into sound, kind of like when howard devoto left the buzzcocks in 77 and formed magazine, this great opus was recorded in 1978 but was not released until 1979, this record to was great even though of both of these i prefer calling on youth, still the outsiders had the power and punch and they were in full swing but i guess as quick as punk came in 77 and post punk started as early as 78 along with the mod revival and the nwobhm the outsiders as they where known where not meant to last to long, still a great effort here, great remastering and a great booklet on the album and its recording history, its just to bad cherry red did not throw any live stuff from 77 or 78 on here as bonus tracks as i really think there was no more studio stuff from these sessions in the vault left, if you get this and the classic calling on youth cd then you have the outsiders covered, play loud and enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Excellent rock album with punk flavors and great guitar
The Outsiders - Close Up11 tracks of powerful rock music that jumps out of your speakers. Sounds to me like Television, The Pretenders and similar bands of the era but taken up a notch on the energy scale. The guitar is very strong here. Play this one loud and you might like it. Recommended. Thanks Cherry Red for the nice package.

a 'sound' investment ...
As someone who saw The Sound many times in the 80's, and who eventually became friends with Adrian Borland, this album strangely passed me by. Even back in those days, when me and my best buddy Dave used to meet up with Adrian on Wimbledon Common for a game of football on a Sunday morning, usually followed by several beers in 'The Crooked Billet' this album was hard to find.Listening to it now, it's so much better than i remember and not a million miles away from the sound of 'The Sound'.It has a slightly punky feel to it, but Adrian still 'sings' and is instantly recognisable. In fact the band here sound a little tighter than The Sound did on their debut 'Jeopardy', and alot of these songs would have sitten nicely on that album. In fact when you listen to 'Conspiracy Of War' you can almost hear 'Missiles'.It's great to have this on CD, and Cherry red have done a great job. The sound quality is suprisingly good, decent booklet, but most of all it's so good that this has been released, now for god's sake someone pick up The Sound's back catalogue and give it the treatment it deserves !

Servizio Amazon perfetto come sempre.
