I have been enjoying Anne Hillerman's books which feature the characters that her late father Tony Hillerman had created for his wonderful series of novels set on the Navajo reservation.In particular, I appreciate the way that her earlier books in this series feature and flesh out the character of Bernie (Bernadette) Manuelito. But with this latest novel she also features Jim Chee and confidently gives us the fully-developed character of Joe Leaphorn, who is steadily recuperating from the injury which nearly claimed his life and has affected his speech. Wonderful!It is a delight to see these well-loved characters brought to life so fully within their iconic setting of the Navajo reservation - a setting which has always assumed the role of a character in its own right in these novels by both father and daughter.Thank you, Anne Hillerman!I very much look forward to where you may take us next.

I love Tony and Anne Hillerman's Navajo detective books. they are interesting with all the details about the Navajo Nation way of life and also really good mysteries. I have visited the area where they are situated in the US and can picture the scenery and the people. I cannot wait for Anne's next book about this fascinating part of the United States.

Really great story telling. Set in amazing backdrop. Always a good read

Well worth the wait, a story to make you concentrate to finally see all the threads coming together. It has all of my favourite characters and places, but now I have to be patient for the next one!
