Q: link to heavy duty liners

My kitten scratches through the plastic and tears them every couple of days! I’m hoping as she gets older she will stop tearing them. I keep using these liners as it is an easy way to clean the litter box.

Q: are these compostable?

Compostable - prob not. When you use them, they have cat poo. I didn't compost that. . My 16-yr old cat passed 2 weeks after I switched to the sifting box system. I have limited use. But it was more thorough than scooping. :(

I would use a liner with elastic in a round litter box. I only used these once a long time ago and never reordered, but I must not have been pleased with them.

Q: Does lightweight litter not recommended because of the need for weight to hold the sheets down? Is that the only reason?

I tried using "lightweight" wood litter with this for a while, including trying the finest variety I could find (grains much smaller than the holes in the liner). The wood litter held the liners down fine, but it didn't drain through the holes readily when I went to replace the liner, because the wood litter has more internal friction holding it in place relative to its lighter weight pulling it down. Combined with T-Dub's report that "lightweight" *clay* litter instead of *wood* litter works fine, I think the material is what's important, not its described weight.
