do you have a leak because of ice dam on your roof? + TIP
SHORT VERSION:If you have water dripping from ceiling due to ice dam on your roof, I highly recommend this product as one of solutions. This is the cheapest and quickest way to fix the ice dam problem. A picture is worth a thousand words so take a look at the pictures to see how it worked on my roof.LONG VERSION:There's nothing worse than hearing/seeing water drips from your ceiling in kitchen, living room, or bed room. You can find more information on ice dam but it basically forms due to a improper insulation between your ceiling and roof.I don't have the budget to fix the insulation problem in my attic so I tried number of different solutions but this electric roof cable worked the best and solved my ice dam problem. The instruction that comes with this cable is very clear on the best way to install this on your roof so take time to read the included instruction and follow it to make sure the cables are not touching each other by using the clips it comes with, and also make sure to have the cable run inside your gutter so that there's no ice dam forming in your gutter as that can sag your gutter and cause other water draining problems. If you have a switch inside your house that can control the outlet outside, I would recommend that you get a pilot switch so that you don't forget to turn off the electric roof cable.** TIP **I don't always turn on the electric roof cable whenever it snows. Instead, I check the weather forecast to see what the temperature will be for next couple of days after the snow fall. If the temperature is warm and sunny then I choose not to turn on the electric cable since ice dam can't be formed if it's not below freezing temperature.THE BOTTOM LINE:5 out of 5 stars. Highly recommend this electric roof cable if you have ice dam problem on your roof.I hope this will solve your problem as it did for me. Good luck and please click on the helpful button below if you found this useful. Thanks!

Package mislabeled!!
We ordered 2 of the 120ft and 1 of them is much shorter than the other. Looks like we got shipped 1 of the 100 ft ones. Annoying since we found this out during installation. Wow! Super horrible. Needs to be better checked before sending out. And I want a discount since now I need to add an outlet just to use what I've already installed.

They Work
This will be a long story but you need to understand why in my case I used these. I was very reserved getting this but with the sudden forming of a ice damn that was allowing leaks into my kitchen that I've never had before it seemed worth a try. Indiana has just recovered from a couple of multiple day below zero episodes for the last two weeks with freezing rain and snow. We went from Zero to 30's and rain in less than 24 hours. I think that unusual temp change even for Indiana caused my problem. Installed the cables last week in a unusual day of 55 degrees. My roof is 2 years old and it was very tough to not rip the shingle tabs to install the clips. A older roof or a colder day would be very challenging. The cable was manageable but as others have said uncoil the whole roll as installing it will lay flat on the roof better. The instructions are good and helpful in figuring how high to make the runs and distance apart. The Clips are like RAZORS! wear gloves or you will regret it. With the clips installed its easy to run the cable . It took about 4 hours total but I was very anal in being careful with the shingles and measuring the clip distance. For the test Indiana didn't wait long Freezing rain, 4 inches or snow with below zero temps for a few days again set up the perfect storm again. When it warmed above 20 degrees I plugged them in. 12 hours later the pictures tell the story . They worked as advertised melting the ice and snow to the shingle. The roof has now completely melted and no problems inside. A few tips : This cable uses a lot of power about 1000 watts in this 200 foot cable. It will be costly to use so use it only when needed. It will not melt ice or snow under 20 degrees or so. Use at least a 14ga extension cord if you have to use one. A 16ga was warm after a few hours. My roof was 66 foot long and this 200 foot kit was only a foot short. You also need the gutter cable because without that you will have a ice filled gutter that can also do damage. In my pictures they are not installed yet. I had used ice melt in the gutter. I have ran a separate cable for my gutter. Most contractors don't like these because they don't fix the cause but do some research and in my case it seems worth the investment.

product delivered in timely fashion.
1 - when purchased for replacement, use the original cable to pull the new one into place. Speeds things immensely.2 - read the much-improved instruction pamphlet where, among other things, it directs owner to remove power when ambient temperature exceeds 50 DEG Fahrenheit.3 - Didn't need it so much since the installation but the above 2 items still hold. Season's over now.

Each foot of cable has a 5-watt power
ENGLISH : Please be aware that the power for a 30-foot length is 150 watts and not 500 watts. The manufacturer says on its site that each foot of length has a power of 5W. I did purchase for myself a 30-foot heating cable and the tag attached to the cable specifies that the total power is 150 watts.FRANÇAIS : Veuillez noter que la puissance pour une longueur de 30 pieds est de 150 watts et non de 500 watts. Le constructeur précise sur son site que chaque pied de longueur a une puissance de 5W. J'ai acheté pour moi un câble chauffant de 30 pieds et l'étiquette attachée au câble précise que la puissance totale est de 150 watts.

Works well
Heats fast and works well. Was a bit hard to lay flat in colder temps since it's all coiled up tight like a spring when packaged.. Once heated tho, it settled down and flattened out. Probably have to flatten it out more after a few heat cycles and it relaxes a bit.. Works fast and melts ice quick in temps up to - 8C

No Customer Support from Frost King
The cable worked for month or so and then it quit. Tried to contact customer service at Frost King they were no receptive to making a return. I purchased 4 different sizes of the gutter heaters and three worked fine all winter. Maybe it was just a flawed unit but you'd think they would replace it.

Works but clips are hard to install
Product was of good quality but the shingle clips are very flimsy and are difficult to install on the roof. I ended up using players to install them but it does the job in leu of revenging the attic
