Perfect substitute for Sugar
I was looking for an alternative sweetner for my coffee and perhaps in general (baking, etc). After researching about the negative effects sugar has on the brain, associated with alzheimer/dementia and other inflammatory effects on the body that lead to others, I knew I had to cut sugar out. I was a little skeptical because some reviews said it would cause an upset stomach. I usually have coffee 5x a week and only use about 1 teaspoon full of this. I've had no side effects so far. Been using this alternative for 2 months now. Taste the same as regular white sugar. I am very pleased with it. I will continue using this as an alternative.

This is a great substitute for sugar. It taste like sugar. There is no aftertaste. I have been using Xylitol for years. Thankful to save a few dollars buying it in bulk.

Great Sugar Substitute, but Use in Moderation
I’ve been using Xylitol Pure as a sugar substitute, and overall, it’s been a good experience. The taste is almost identical to sugar, without the aftertaste you get from some other sweeteners. One thing to note, though: Xylitol can have a laxative effect if you use too much of it. I noticed this after having a few servings in a day. As long as I use it in moderation, it’s fine, but it’s definitely something to be aware of.I do appreciate that it’s derived from non-GMO corn and contains no fillers or artificial ingredients. The texture is just like regular sugar, and it dissolves well in drinks and recipes. Just remember to introduce it gradually into your diet if you’re new to xylitol to avoid any digestive discomfort.Bottom line: This is a great natural sweetener if you’re looking to reduce sugar intake, but be mindful of portion sizes to avoid the laxative effect. In moderation, it’s a fantastic sugar alternative.

This is a great product - (Dog owners be careful)
Great product, great company. Non-GMO, high quality xylitol; however, it is made from corn, not birch. However, this stuff is very toxic to dogs. Don't let them have any of it, not even small quantities. If you want a sweetener like this but without such toxicity to dogs, get Erythritol. Same sort of thing -- a sugar alcohol, but not dangerous for animals. Also, it does not have the same digestive effects (gas, bloating, diarrhea) that Xylitol does. It is maybe a little less sweet than Xylitol, however. This does not mean it is bad for people - for example, chocolate is fine for people but also toxic to dogs.Note: When I do buy it, I use this company. I've ordered Xylitol and Erythritol from them and they were VERY high quality. When I tried it from EmeraldForest, I found some products had a horrible, strange smell and faint aftertaste. I called to return the items and was treated very badly by their customer service. EmeraldForest is getting some of their products made in China (not all - their xylitol apparently not), and I wondered why it has that horrible odor. Kinda scary. Also, their customer service is very bad. If you check their terms and conditions, you will see something sort of unusual for an online merchant: "We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone...". When I tried to return the odd smelling product to them citing their money back guarantee, they went around about it and then finally agreed, but said then they would never sell anything to me ever again (!). Wow.I'm sticking with NOW Foods at this point.

Best $$/lb I've found
Xylitol is awesome because it's natural, tastes good(not sickeningly sweet, not chemically, no aftertaste), glycemic index of nearly zero, less calories than sugar, and there are potentially some health and dental benefits.Personal anecdote/success story: The old A1C was creeping up there a bit. I eat healthy, don't have a sweet tooth, almost zero premade/processed foods, what's going on?!? I realized that most days, the first calories I get in the morning are the spoonful of sugar I put in my coffee or tea. Switched to xylitol for a few months, presto the A1C is back where it should be.This 15lb bag is good stuff, and the best $$/lb I've found. If you're just trying it out, start with a smaller bag in case you don't like it. Once you know you'll like it, this bulk bag is the best way to buy.Edit 3/4/19: If you're not used to this stuff, it DOES have some laxative effect! Dosage varies with person. I didn't notice anything with a spoonful per day in my coffee, but when my girlfriend made an apple pie with it we wound up eating WAY more xylitol in one shot than we normally would have. Oh my, that's not a lesson that will need to be learned again. I'd built up some immunity with my daily consumption in coffee, so the effect for me was "only" awe inspiring amounts of gas. I think I even impressed the dog. My poor girlfriend had no immunity at all and spent several hours in the bathroom.STILL five stars, as it normally doesn't do that and all the other non-sugar sweeteners I've tried have been artificial chemically obnoxious garbage, inedible.

Satisfies sweet cravings
In looking for sugar alternatives I researched Xylitol. There is no odd aftertaste like one finds in some alternative sweeteners. I have not tried it in baking but apparently there are recipes using xylitol and for diabetics or those wanting a good tasting, sugar-like product for cereal, fruit and more, this is worth trying.
