Okay, let me start by saying the Cruzadel people are really nice and worked really hard to make me happy. Unfortunately for them there is no redeeming this product. Just don't buy it. every one of them (and I had 23 of them) EVERY FREAKING ONE OF THEM fell apart. After hours of trying to make sure they did not leak, they just fall apart and all the water runs out. I tried them several different ways and I gotta say, it's just REALLY bad engineering and TERRIBLE Chinese workmanship. Save your money. Spend a little more on something else. Zero stars would have been too many.

This cup is not for quails. I have installed this for my quail cage and it is running dry. Quails will drink the water in the cup but not pecking on the yellow tongue to release more water.

Every other review here seems to be the result of user malfunction and misunderstanding. I've used 6 of these all summer long for my quail and they are great! To the guy that says quail "aren't strong enough to peck the yellow tab to fill up the cup" is expecting the cup to fill to the top. Yeah, it doesn't work that way. It fills just enough at the bottom for a little bit to sit there, it doesn't fill to the brim and doesn't need to. My quail are doing just fine with them. Some need to be taken apart and turned around to get the correct orientation, and that should only need to be done ONCE. If you're taking them apart and putting them back together numerous times then OF COURSE they will leak. You wear out the sealing capability when you keep taking it apart and putting it back together. The bad reviews on here are from user error folks, this really is a great product for quail. If you have them for chickens then you may have issues if they are somewhere that the chickens are constantly bumping into them, they aren't designed to take a beating. Be smart about where you put them and do a little observation and critical thinking and see that the cups don't fill to the brim. It's just a tiny puddle at the bottom which is all the bird needs. If they filled to the top then the trigger would never get hit. Think about it. Great product you guys, be smart about it and don't let user error scare you away.

These do not work for quail, quail are not strong enough to peck the yellow tab hard enough to refill the cup.

Out of a dozen of these I installed not over a week ago, I have already had to replace 3. They are very cheaply made and don't withstand normal chicken activity. I have water all over the dirt flooring the chicken coop. It's smells like....

bought these thinking they'd be the answer to the previous auto waters that dripped constantly only to have them malfunction also, the chickens actually pulled the pecking plunger out and the the unit flooded the hen house.
