They are foam padding strips that help the helmet fit securely on your head. I don't think you need to look for a different size.

Yes if u don't have it sit to high on ur head

No it's a very basic helmet. I wouldn't recommend it for anyone but the occasional casual rider. The helmet doesn't have much padding and there is no dialAdjustment. I believe it adjusts with the webbing.

Q: Front, back? Does the "bell" logo go in the front or back? I thought back. Son says front.

Bell logo goes in the front...if you look at the pics on the sale page it shows the bell in front.
