The Search for the Dice Man Paperback – July 28, 2015

The Search for the Dice Man is kind of a paler, weaker re-telling of the same journey as the original book but this time by his son.The Diceman is a fantastic read that is very much of it's time. The descent of Luke from respected psychiatrist to cult dice addict is both fascinating and, in a way, fun.The Search for the Dice Man is the story of his son's similar journey. But, this time from up-and-coming stock broker to dice dabbler while searching for his father and visiting cults that are his father's legacy. It's a bit contrived and apart from a few scenes in Lukedom, the book is actually quite mild and follows a fairly obvious path with an ending that's not much of a surprise.If Wall Street's catchphrase was Greed is Good, this book's catchphrase could be "Extra randomness is helpful." Not quite the punch you'd expect.But, if you liked Diceman, it's still worth a read.

I recently stumbled upon The Dice Man, and enjoyed rereading it, then passed it to my son with a silent prayer that he won't....you know. This Search For The Dice Man is a thin attempt at some sort of sequel. In my view it adds very few new ideas to the original unique event, but perhaps that is a reflection of the energy and inventiveness of the first book.I would thoroughly recommend The Dice Man to anyone possessed of a healthy streak of anarchy and irreverence. I would not recommend this sequel.

This book didn't impress me as much as the original Diceman. It takes a while to get going before the characters start to become believable. Funny and enjoyable nevertheless.

A definite disappointment after having read and reread the original 'Diceman' novel over the years. I eagerly awaited the release of this book and really wanted to enjoy it but it was way too far removed from the original.....maybe just too many years have passed between writing The Diceman and this follow up I think!

This sequel is much better than the original. I think it is, because it has a few fantastic elements, but overall is much more level-headed. Also, the first one had a cruel feel to it, whereas this one is much more sane.

The story was good, but the many typos that made it into the kindle format distracted me from enjoying it as much as I could have.

Found it hard to put this book down. Thought it was a great read. Different way of looking at chance that definitely has some truth.

The book itself is fairly enjoyable and a good read.However, this product shouldn't be available in its current state. There are missing and incorrect words throughout. Many are obvious character recognition errors. Other times a sentence will just end without the final word(s). It is fairly obvious they used text recognition to scan the book and then did not proof read it. Very shoddy product.

This book has obviously been scanned and OCR'd, but not proofread. It is littered with errors, such as a "cl" or "ri" in the original text being replaced with a "d" or "n". There are also at least a dozen sentences which just stop, mid sentence. This makes it incredibly frustrating to read, and the worst eBook I've ever purchased.These problems don't exist in the paperback.

Having read the Diceman years ago I was hopeful that this book would be of a similar standard. Unfortunately it is not. The main characters were not appealing or amusing and the plot was rather unconvincing.

Interesting but having read the first book, "The Dice Man" this didn't do it justice. That one was a classic, but this unfortunately does not match up.

I am not a huge fan of the books, but The dice man was the first book which I enjoyed reading and could not wait how it ends. Therefore, I decided to get the sequel, I hope I enjoy it as much as the first one.Book arrived exactly as described and surprisingly on time as well. Thank you for the opportunity to get 'recycled' books which cost less, it's still readable and in good condition.
