This is the third 8 Inch chef knife I've bought from Amazon
The media could not be loaded. This knife is absolutely beautiful and the favourite of my three knives without question. To give you a bit of background, I'd previously bought an expensive knife that was falsely advertised as Damascus steel, It turned out to be a very heavy laser printed knock off. In hindsight, It wasn't worth the price tag I payed for it. I then decided to buy a lighter 8 inch knife which just didn't feel right either. This knife hoewever is top drawer and just perfect. The balance for a start is exactly where you'd expect, on the join from the handle to the knife itself, the handle is crafted out of two peices of solid wood, sanded down to perfection, It makes holding the knife incredibly comforteable. When the handle is wet, the wood goes darker in colour and the grip is slightly better as opposed to smooth, small touch but I find it very aesthetic, although this is an obvious sign this knife will need proper treatment to prevent the handle from degrading over time. Now moving on to the most import part, the knife blade. It's made of high quality metal (V10 Stainless steel) which gives you the hardness of carbon steel but with the corrosion resistance of stainless steel. It is without a doubt the sharpest knife I've ever used, I managed to cut myself on my thumb quite deeply with the slighest graze. You can 100% Tell it's genuine damascus steel, If you look closely in the pictures alongside this review, you'll see the very slight 3d ridge, which could not be copied with a lazer printer and it clearly well forged. (sorry about the excessive amount of photographs, I find It just so pretty)Now... the toughness test. I've tested this knife on frozen goods; fruit, vege & all kinds of other kinds of materials, like cardboard and plastic. There is absolutely no sign of wear and tear to the blade, even after dropping it onto a tiled kitchen floor... which completely amazed me. Over a week of heavy use, best of all it makes quick and easy work of anything you're trying to cut, the only downside is the fact It is shredded my plastic chopping board with lines. Will have to be investing in a decent wooden chopping board to get this knife in it's element. Please feel free to take a look at my video representation of this blade and If you've found my review helpful, I'd really appreciate a helpful vote so I know I've helped somebody out there!

£ 100 + Mac knife quality/performance for £ 29
My quest to find the ideal desert island single blade had a £180 budget by way of Birthday gift cards. I settled on a Global Santoku after comparing it with Mac and similar top shelf options. With the balance I added this as an option for heavy duty, bones, plastics etc.I returned the Global which was worth the money, the feel and balance of the this knife was preferred by me and my daughters, the wife would make do with a plastic knife so long as it cost under £5, that's bankers I suppose. The main feature, how sharp and how long before it loses it's edge, the girls concluded by scientific methods that this was the sharpest tool in the box, they created a safe environment then cut a section of their hair with the "least tuggy" sic declared the winner, this knife having the least resistance on day 1 and subsequently was 1st Mac 2nd Global 3rd

Good looking Knife
The look and the performance of the blade is fabulous. More attention could be given to the construction of the handle, as on my knife the metal tang is slightly proud of the wood creating an edge.

Luxurious Kitchen Tool
The media could not be loaded. This has to be the best knife I own. I recently started upgrading my kitchen products and have invested in a couple of kitchen knives. This one, just feels and looks like a good quality knife. I made a little video (that's my job in real life) and I probably did not pick the best food to demonstrate the knife. I have used it almost every day since I bought it, I am loving it, but I wonder if it can even do better than what I use it for. So, in my opinion, this knife would be ace even for the more experienced cook or chef. I use it for meat and vegetables; it cuts through everything with ease. I especially love the feel of the wooden handle, it is smooth and makes me feel like a professional when I am using it.

One of the sharpness and nicest looking knives I have bought.
So I have bought a Brazilian hand made knife before and I was really impressed - that was a few years ago. I found this and it was looking quite knife so I thought why not try it.It literally can cut paper like you see in the YouTube videos. It is pretty coolThe knife is quite heavy which is great for cutting vegetables.I am impressed and it has the Damascus look and feel.Possibly buy another to gift to my brother. One warning it is sharp so consider when using.Definitely recommend.

So impressed I bought a second one as a gift!!!
The media could not be loaded. Extremely sharp and beautiful to look at. If, like me, you watch 'Forged in Fire' you'll know what Damascus steel is. If not, it is the process used in forging that gives this wonderful finish on the knifes blade. But that's not why I bought this, it was because, the knives I've been using for the last 20 years just aren't cutting it any more....This blade is the sharpest I've ever used, unbelievably sharp. The first thing I used it on was to trim some green beans, you literally just had to roll the knife over them and it sank down and cut them. With it having a wooden handle, I won't be putting it in the dishwasher, but a word to the wise, be careful with your fingers......

Very Sharp and Perfect quality
The knife is very sharp cutting anything almost feels like butter, and the knife feels premium worth the money. Only down side i can see is the knife would of been nice if it came with a sheath

The biggest knife I own!
I've been wanting a knife with a 9 inch blade because I believed it would help with chopping larger things that my 5", 7" and 8" blades didn't handle as well. I saw a lot of chef knives but I really like my Japanese selections. Good weight on it. As you see, I have a smaller version for comparison. I also like knives that appear to be made from a single piece of steel ( blade to riveted handle). I haven't used it, yet, but I can't wait to do so (pray that I don't sever my fingers off!)

Excelente cuchillo

Beautiful and incredibly sharp
The media could not be loaded. Damascus steel knives are the only way to go when purchasing knives. I got this for my daughter to replace the dull Chef's knife she had. She's been taking cooking classes and really needed a high quality chef's knife. She loves to use my Shun's knives, but I didn't want to spend that much. After some research, I chose this one because it has a 60-62 HRC Japanese VG-10 premium steel cutting core and the price was great. The use of a high quality steel is essential for a top quality knife that's durable enough to last for years and years and years to come. I'm astounded at how well this works. I actually like it more than my Shun chef's knife and it's much prettier. It's extremely well balanced and the attention to detail is evident. The curved handle is ergonomically designed and fits in my hand perfectly. I can use this for a long period of time without my hand tiring or cramping. It is also non-slip, so I don't have any issues with it slipping. The blade is EXTREMELY sharp, so be careful. It cuts through steak, pork butt, ribs, basically anything with ease. It's like cutting through butter. It comes in a nice black box that's perfect for gift giving. This would make an awesome wedding present. If you're looking for high quality Damascus steel knives, you can stop looking. This knife won't disappoint.
