55" for Mazda CX-9 - perfect fit
I ordered the factory rails for my 2011 Mazda CX-9 but did not want to pay for the crossbars. I won't keep the crossbars on when I am not using them because they affect the gas mileage. I ordered these for less than half the price of the factory cross bars and was pleasantly surprised. They are actually very sturdy and fit the shape of the rails perfectly. I was concerned that the 47" bars would not be long enough so I ordered the 55" There is about 2.5" of extra bar on each side, so I am glad I did because if I'm right that means I need 50" to clear the rails. The "fit guide" on the product description is unclear, but I think the measurement they give is from outside edge to outside edge of your existing rails. I still don't think the 47" would have fit my car. The overhang does not stick out more than the top of the door, so there is no danger of hitting my head on it or sideswiping something. These racks are very easy to put on and off. What I did was center the bars, tightened them down, and then marked where the clamps were with a pencil. I took them off and cut the included rubber strip to fill the channel in the center and on each end. Now when I put them on, they are already centered, I just have to tighten them down. Both bars take about 3 minutes to put on and tighten down. Comes with 2 keys, so I recommend keeping one on your car keys and the other in the glove box with the allen key, that way you always know where they are.

Great product, installation directions could use some work.
I had read a ton of the reviews here before buying, and "user error" is clearly the main problem people have with these crossbars. Installation took me about 1/2 hour by myself, and that is due to the directions and me basically having to install them twice in a row to get the rubber noise reducer on the underside of the bars. In order to get the rubber strips to fit right you almost have to loosely install everything, measure the underside gap between the clamps on each crossbar, cut the rubber noise reducer to size, loosen the clamp one one side, pull out the rail attached to it, slide in the rubber piece across the bottom gap of the crossbeam, and then reconnect the crossbeam to the clamp and reattach it to the side rail. This rubber strip makes for zero whistling noise. The rails were sturdy, and allowed me to easily add a cargo box on top of the car. The end caps were a small challenge but not too difficult. Give them a small tug to make sure they are on tight and won't fall off. My only complaint is that one rail had a small ding from shipping, but not bad enough for me to send them back. Overall these bars fit great, did the job perfectly, and cost hundreds less than the ones from the car manufacturer. Take your time, read some other top reviews here for more installation tips, and you'll be a satisfied customer.

Not bad for the money, but...
I bought these for a 900-mile road trip to secure a cargo bag to, on our 2021 VW Tiguan. While the description indicated the cross bars were long enough according to the measurements given, the front bar was one-half-inch too short to install evenly and still insert the end caps. I wound up trimming a quarter-inch off of the interior of the end caps to make them fit. The rear bar fit perfectly as the factory roof rails are closer together in the back. Also, the keyed locks on BOTH front and rear mechanisms fell apart with the first turn of the key. The red part inside the mechanism fell off the mechanism and down inside... on BOTH. Don't expect to lock these, the locks WILL break. Thankfully you don't need the locks to keep them tight on the vehicle, they would only help prevent someone with the right size Allen wrench from stealing your cross bars. I'm not that worried about theft.Other than that, I didn't even need the instructions to install them, very simple and intuitive. They look great and are very secure. Leaving today for our trip, I'll update later if necessary. Otherwise, I took off a star for the garbage locks.

Strong and well built
Absolutely a great value. Mounted easily on the factory rails of my son's 2017 Impreza and seem to be very sturdy, plenty sturdy for what that car should have up there. We didn't want bars that were curved, because of their limitations. Our Thule cargo carrier mounted up easily.

Dangerous product!
We bought this rack in 2018 and have used it a few times to carry our kayaks. My husband is very anal at making sure everything is solid and sturdy when we do these trips. We were shocked to see how the kayaks flew off and fell in the middle of the highway!!! Cars were able to avoid them and i was fearing for my husband's life when he was running towards the middle of the highway to remove the kayaks and prevent an accident. All the straps and kayak racks were still attached to the kayaks while the car rack was broken. This piece of crap could have costed lives! Do not buy. Make sure you buy the best quality you can get. Not only it will last more than 2 years, it can save lives.

As described.
Installation was pretty straight forward on my 2015 Nissan Pathfinder. Took me a bout 40 minutes - had to make sure alignment was perfect and the rubber strips were cut just right. These are sturdy and light, they look and fit just like the provided pictures. Will probably apply protectant on the rubberized and plastic parts. Only concern I have is about the end caps- it takes a good effort to get them on and they don't seem to snap/click on like they should. They are on firmly but I'm concerned that they will pop off or break when we use the crossbars, which could lead to cuts or scraps on the bare metal ends. I might toss some condoms over the ends to hold these on better...always better to be safe.Update: Two of the end caps were lost on a recent trip, leaving the bare metal ends exposed. I saw this coming, now I need to find a solution. Downgrading to three stars.

Ok for the price.
These were easy to install. Took about ten minutes. Not heavy duty by any means but good for kayaks.

A little noise
They work ok. To noisy to keep on all the time. Won’t put them on in the winter, it would make it next to impossible to sweep the snow off the roof. They do work for hauling materials on the roof from the hardware store.
