Cambrook was founded in 2012 by Angus Cameron and Michael Brooks, previous founders and owners of Dormen's, the UK's leading premium savoury nut brand. Having sold Dormen's Cambrook set about researching how to make the perfect caramelised nut. The quest took it to Europe where Cambrook discovered a couple of artisan Spanish and Italian family businesses doing exactly this. Unfortunately for Cambrook they were not prepared to divulge their secrets and so Cambrook returned home confident that it could be done but uncertain as to how. A little roasting pan bought in France was the key. Installing itself in Angus's garden shed Cambrook set about the task and, after many months of trials and tribulations, it emerged triumphantly with a Cambrook brilliantly caramelised nut. Believing there to be a niche market in the UK for something as delicious as this, Cambrook set up a small factory in Andover, Hampshire, where we now caramelise nuts in its own unique way. Roasted peanuts caramelised in a wonderfully fine glaze with a sprinkling of sesame seeds.
