Took a punt on low price, instant favourite.
Not a huge Specials/Ska fan. Enjoy the hits but more of a 60s/70s man myself but took a punt on this as price was decent (£11). Sonically it's crisp and clear, sounds great through the system. ......then the song choices for the album are great. Witty, stark and a great homage to the originals. Listen and learn. Fight the power.

It's Later Than You Think
Anyone hoping for and expecting a ska album will be disappointed. But this isn't 1979 any more. The band have chosen an excellent selection of songs to cover and there is enough variation in the arrangements to make each song interesting. The Specials still have something to say. I like it a lot.

Different style to the normal specials
Great album different to the normal Specials genre , but nonetheless very enjoyable.

Excellent album from a brilliant band with great indepth songs.

Not great
Like Chumba protest songs a difficult listen. More Pete Seeger or 50's folksinger than a band record. Not good singers, need a band noise to dominate more. With the talented new musicians a band record must be on the cards

No way to delay that trouble coming every day
Brilliant album, almost as good as Encore. Protest Songs may not be packed full of the jump-up ska numbers The Specials' older fanbase would (still) eagerly welcome, but the band's choice of cover songs here is impeccable - from the Staples Singers to the Wailers, via Leonard Cohen, Frank Zappa, and many others. Several of them, the low-key version of "Get Up, Stand Up" for instance, are quite radical reinterpretations, meaning that this "covers album" is definitely much more than a lazy stopgap affair. A late-period minor masterpiece? Absolutely.n.b. The deluxe version adds a couple of Encore-era live recordings from a triumphant 2019 hometown show.

Good Album
After the recent sad passing of Terry Hall I was in need to listen to some of his Music.I played the first two Specials Albums + His Hits Collection. Then I remembered the Vegas Albumhe did with David Stewart of The Eurythmics. Great Music from a sadly missed Artist.
