Stainless Steel Male Quick Disconnect MPT 1/2"

It looks like good quality stainless, hopefully it is not a Chinese amalgam of lead and radium. This fitting is machined just a little different than what I would call standard. I bought a pump/plate chiller rig from my local brew shop. I wanted to swap out some of the barb fittings for quick disconnects but they were out of stock so I turned to Amazon. My existing fittings snap easily together. These "fit" my other fittings, but I have to put a lot of force behind them to make them mate, and even more to make them disconnect. That will be great when everything is boiling hot. I'm going to try to machine the locking groove back a little to relieve the mating pressure but I'll say I definitely figured out why they cost so little.

I used these as well as the 1/2" Barb Female quick Disconnects to connect to my ball valves and high temperature silicone hosing. Apply some pipe thread to the threads of these pieces and screw right into your ball valves. Great fit. Water tight. Have bought 6 in total. The exact same thing you can find on MoreBeer; however, great to purchase on Amazon if you only need a few - plus they are prime eligible. Happy homebrewing.

Excellent male disconnect. Wish I could find a barbed female adapter that maintained the full 1/2" ID so I could use on the suction side of my brew pump. Until then using them on the discharge side only or I'm hose clamping over these fittings.
