Indispensible
Writing as an economic historian, I have found this to be the best nuts-and-bolts account of what credit management in banks actually consists of. Written with wonderful clarity and rich documentation. It is enormously useful to anyone seriously puzzled about how banks work. It also has an important bearing on the controversy among monetary economists between the loanable funds and the endogenous money advocates. I think it shows that both approaches cover important aspects of reality and simply provide a different angle on the same facts. The book indicates a good deal of potential overlap. However, it appears to rule out purist forms of both schools. I cannot praise this book highly enough: it deals clearly with technical questions, is accessible to non-experts. An impressive achievement.

The Principles Of Banking
This is not only for those interested in entering the banking sector at a practitioner level but it is also a worthwhile read for all those across the sector who support or are involved in delivery programmes to the various business lines/functions. The topics covered clearly outline the paradigm upon which the Financial Services sector is having to adopt to remediate the failings prior to 2008.

Essential Reading
Prof. Moorad Choudhry's book 'The Principles of Banking' is essential reading and on-going source of reference for Bankers and Board members, especially those concerned with Strategy, Risk Management and Corporate Governance. Highly recommended.

Am now in process of analyzing for use in university class next Spring. Also, book was received with a damaged spine.
