Great YA setting for Pride and Prejudice
Kirstin Odegaard's First Impressions brings Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice to modern times and in the young adult genre, no less. It's a great fit! Austen's familiar characters were represented in a totally modern way. The Jeremiah/Collins character was particularly delightful. The whole story worked so well and I was enraptured from the first chapter. I hope to see more work by this author. (I can also recommend her book "P&P and LOL"...Pride and Prejudice told through texts.)

YA P&P retelling
No matter how many times I read a retelling, the story never gets old and this one was no exception. This felt very realistic and it was clever how the author incorporated the original story into a modern retelling.I actually really liked the Mr. Collins character, who ended up being quirky but good.I did deduct one star bc I felt like Wickham wasn't dealt with like he should have been in modern times- hes an adult preying on children. I'm also not a huge fan of the high school aged everything. I prefer them to be a little older, but for the most part it didn't take away from my enjoyment of the story.

a fun modern high school adaptation
I read this book not expecting much, but thoroughly enjoyed it. The characters are actually very different from the original story, but extremely likeable, and the way the author weaved the plot was very smart. Even better, the writing and characterization was great, and I found myself smiling as I was reading!

So impressed -- awesome YA twist on P&P !!
I love Pride and Prejudice and read all kinds of versions of it. First Impressions is now one of my favorite YA twists on the classic story! The character of Libby was well written and her prejudices were very believable in the modern high school setting. It was a little odd reading the modern version of Darcy -- Will -- as so outgoing and popular but I got used to it by the end and it did make sense for this modern twist. For anyone on the fence about whether or not to try this book, let me tell you that there is a side character named Jeremiah (modern version of Mr. Collins) that alone is worth your time to read this story. He was so entertaining! I wish the book could have gone on longer so that I could read what else he got up to.I definitely recommend this book :)p.s. The author's s/o to her Andreas after her story was so cutely written! So adorable!!

Loved it!! ❤
This is my second time reading this book so I decided to leave a review. It's a really fun, quirky modern P&P retelling that I truly loved; one of my favorites actually. I think it's very clever, funny & well-written; not your average High School dramedy. I totally recommend it to Jane Austen's young adult fans & those fans who are forever young at heart . You'll love it! ❤

Amazing group of characters brought together for a fast paced story of adolescence
A page turner, lively with several interesting characters focused on prom night in high school, with the intensity of adolescence, the feeling of "last fling" and some really cute character cameos, such as an exchange student who is determined to be an actor---in real life---and winds up in some hilarious situations. Intimate glimpses into growing pains, fast dialogue and a satisfying wrap up of intertwining stories of friends and family. An emotional but fun romp through the last dizzying years of high school.

Fun, clever read
I wasn't sure what to expect from "a twist on Pride and Prejudice," because we all know the story. Would it take away from the plot if we already know how it plays out? Actually, just the opposite. I enjoyed the clever ways the story paralleled the original. The Bennet family, kooky "Jer," Cherry and Will were all endearing characters, and even some of the over-the-top silly aspects worked surprisingly well. Overall, a really fun read.

My impression
This was a cute version of Pride and prejudice. This could and does happen during teen years. I'm glad the writer made each see the truth. Way to go and I'm highly recommending you to read this
