Glass artists need a very specific mix of alloys in their solder to get a smooth and clean bead on their work.

Best there is! Best for stained glass
There's no better solder than this!!If you're just starting stained glass, buy this! Literally almost every artist I know uses this & swears by it!!It's tough as a new artist dropping $25 on anything that needs replaced often lol but I'm a little over halfway through the roll & have made 3 larger, 10 medium & several small suncatchers so far!! Again I'm new so I've also wasted quite a bit practicing, dropping, overusing , filling in gaps etc.If you're like me and try to save $$$$ any chance you get with such an expensive hobby.... I'd say save on anything & everything except this!! Splurge baby!!Also if you're new, this 60/40 isn't for jewelry. You'll need lead free for that. Most SG artists know this but I didn't before starting. I actually made the mistake of buying the wrong thickness solder when I first started, already tried using it , so couldn't return . Lost some dollars that way So there's no bad advice, I feel , when reviewing.

The only solder I use, after many different brands!
I have used a bunch of different solders over the years for my stained glass pieces, and I believe Canfield 60/40 is the best. I won't buy any other brand at this point. Other cheaper brands have caused me a lot of aggravation with either not melting evenly, not smoothing out, having to use too much flux to get it to flow, etc. Canfield has been consistently good and I never have to struggle to get it to do what it should. It also pools great over foil overlay and patinas up well (shown in some of my crazy ring saw cuts/pieces attached).I feel like even though it's a bit pricey, it saves me time and the cost of extra chemicals or glass that I may have to use in junction with cheaper solder (I have cracked glass from trying to smoothen cheap solder down!). I highly recommend it for stained glass workers!

The best tool for the job is a quality solder
I get it. Who wants to shell out money for the better solder when there are cheaper solders out there? I say, try the lesser brands alongside this solder and see what you think.I did and I’m a believer.First, I believe a solder can only be as good as its flux. Don’t skimp on flux either. My review is based on my using the pink flux liquid, Rubyfluid. I also use Novacan with good results.Canfield solder is a pleasure to work with. Since making the switch, I have cleaner lines and less heat fractures. It polishes up nicely and readily accepts patina (just make sure you use extra-fine steel wool to clean it up before applying a patina).Overall, it’s worth the extra money. I’d recommend it.

Very happy with this product and found it very cost effective as well. A+
Call me sentimental, but I used this stuff for my first soldering project, and found it to be a five star product. Soldering is very messy! and takes a lot of practice to get better at it, but this product made it very easy as well as it was cost effective. I am so happy to have started with this. I will report back if as I get more experience with this as opposed to another product, and find anything interesting to say. Very happy with it right now.

Perfect for my stained glass creations!
I purchased this for my stained glass project (I ran out of solder half way through a project and my closest stained glass store is over an hour away!) and was initially worried about the quality (wasn't sure what I would get from Amazon versus the professionals). But I'm VERY HAPPY to say that not only is the solder high quality, but it's also a brand I've seen and used before from the professional stores- at a fraction of the cost! I'm extremely happy with my purchase and plan on buying my solder through Amazon in the future!

Canfield 60/40 solder
Same dependable solder I used to get at the stained glass store who wanted a lot more money to ship it to me. Glad I could get a fast delivery from Amazon.

Best solder for stained glass
This is the best solder I have used! I am a novice stained glass artist. I have tried Studio Pro, Artist choice and others and this is superior to all others I have used. The extra $2 roll is incredibly worth the smooth melting and lack of swearing required to get the lines clean looking. I will absolutely be buying this again.
