Solid and functional for being inexpensive.
They are very inexpensive but they function just great. They installed easily. They are bigger for 3-4 fingers which was perfect for my needs. The locking button is easy to engage and easy to disengage which may or may not be desirable. For my purposes and budget they are a good solid set (they come as a set too).

Just what I needed.
Bought these brake levers for my recumbent trike. Trike wouldn't stand still. Installed the new brake levers and the problem was gone. They arrived early and in perfect condition. Very good quality and the price was great. Would recommend these to others.

Big, but useful.
I bought these because I do old school BMX tricks from like the 80s and many tricks require locking levers. It is a hassle to get the brakes just right, but once it is done, they work awesome. The button is easy to push in and they hold pretty good. These were the only locking levers I could find anywhere and I am very pleased with them. But they are very big, so if you are looking for small break levers, don't buy these.

So far so good.
There are no instructions included - thus the 4 stars instead of 5. Installation is pretty straight forward and easy to figure out. I had more trouble removing my old lever than installing these. So far the levers are working as expected. I noticed some other reviews claiming that they are very large - I do not think they are any bigger than my old ones. Plus, I like to have a good grip for my brakes. These appear to be of better quality than I expected for the price. I plan to buy another pair next month, or when the budget allows. We ride recumbent trikes and the locking levers are very handy (no pun intended). Without locking brake levers, most trikes rely on a big rubber band to hold the brake if you need to leave your trike parked. The locking levers are a MUCH better option.

drop-in replacement for typical hand brake lever
Update:This simple brake lever has made my biking (handcycling) better and safer. I can't say enough good things about this brake lever. Sometimes it's the littlest things that make the biggest difference. I'll tell anyone who will listen who has a 3-wheeled peddled vehicle that they should upgrade to these levers. Note you can replace both your brake levers, or only one and share the other lever with a friend (that's what I did).Original review:I'm so glad that Sunlite makes these locking brake levers. They are indeed hard to find. Thank you Wheel & Sprocket for keeping them in-stock.I have a three-wheeled handcycle. Like a trike, but peddled by arms instead of feet. These handles replaced my existing Shimano Tiagra two-finger levers. I included some comparison photos. I also show the locking mechanism engaged. Also, if you zoom in you can see that the Sunlite handles are riveted into what is known as the "short-pull" setting (the lower hole). It's a rivet that can't be removed. Notice on the Shimano, the cable holder can be moved to the "long-pull" setting which is for V-brakes, but mine are in the short-pull setting. Therefore, the Sunlite handle is permanently configured for side-pull, or cantilever brakes. NOT V-brakes. Note I have side-pull brakes. I also included an image of side-pull versus V-brake, in case you aren't sure which kind you have. The existence of the 2nd hole makes me wonder if there is a v-brake version out there, but most trikes probably have side-pull. Incidentally, the model number on the package is 12005.The photos also show that the Sunlite is "nearly" identical in size to the Tiagra two-finger handle, so I would say that is the small size as brake levers go. "Nearly" because the Sunlite is more like 3 fingers, where Tiagra is two fingers.Install tip: you may have to slightly adjust the length of the brake cable at the brake in order for the lock to work securely. Install the brake cable, try to engage the lock. If you can't pull the lever in far enough to engage the lock, let out the brake cable at the brake a VERY TINY amount, and try again. I managed to get it on the 2nd try. My wheel does not move now with the lock engaged, even on a hill. One last shout-out. SunLite makes a LOT of bike accessories. I would NOT call them a "no-name" brand, or a cheap Chinese knock-off. The company is dedicated to making affordable bike accessories to make biking safer for everyone. They are made in Taiwan, the "other" China.

Love the 'parking brake' part
I paid for these... not part of a Vine review. I was looking for a fresh set of matching brake levers with a locking mechanism for my recumbent trike. These were just the ticket. The only thing I'd prefer would have been if I didn't have to remove my bar end shifters, throttle, and grips in order to install. One of my old brake levers when you unbolt it can be swung open and removed/installed without wiggling it over the bar from the end. That's it for downside. They are actually easier to lock in place than the old locking one, so my trike doesn't roll away when parked on a grade or if I'm stopped on a hill. Feel just as sturdy. I also slid a set of handle covers on that match my yellow grips and seat. Got the silicone grips and brake lever covers here on Amazon also. My 1999 trike looks better than it did new with all of it's new accessories.I like them and have no qualms recommending them.

Locking Bike Brake Levers for Recumbent Trike
I bought these to use on my home-built recumbent trike. With a trike parking brakes are mandatory so your ride doesn't roll off without you. These levers provide the parking brake function. You squeeze the brake lever with one hand and use the other to press in a spring loaded locking pin. This allows you to use your regular brakes as parking brakes without additional components or weight. I would definitely use these again on any future builds.

Best Choice
This Catrike didn't come with a parking brake. Was a real hassle having to Velcro strap my brake levers as originally provided. Now just squeeze handle - push button to lock. Squeeze lever and they unlock and I ready to ride. Should be great on bikes as well.
