If you use the liquid form, read this....
Vastly different from the ready-made Alimentum. Our then 10 month old baby was on the ready-made Alimentum for 4 months without a problem. It's a great product. Then we took a trip overseas and were unable to carry the ready-made bottles with us. We purchased the powder form thinking that it would be a suitable replacement since the two are essentially the same.I read on various forums that the powder tastes a bit differently than the liquid, so I called Abbott only to be reassured that the difference in taste is negligible. Some babies might detect a minor difference in taste, I was told. All the ingredients are the same except that the powder has corn (I guess it's necessary for the process of powder). Abbott was nice enough to send us a sample so our baby can try it before placing a large order. We tried it, and she was ok with it.Fast forward to our trip. When we get there, our baby refuses to drink the powder. Our first thought was the there must be a difference in the water. So we tried all sorts of water - various bottled spring water, boiled tap water, and even water straight from the tap (not something one should do, but we were desperate) once from a city tap and one from an area that gets its water directly from springs - and Baby wouldn't have any of it. We then tried some local formula, and Baby didn't like it either. We ended up having to ship bottles of liquid formula from the US so Baby would have something to eat. Luckily, by then she was eating solids so we managed to feed her solids, but the formula was missing.Given that Baby seemed to be ok with the powder in the US, one might conclude that the difference is in the water. It's certainly possible, but I don't think that's the whole story. She might have been ok with it, because we haven't given her enough of it prior to our trip.Later on I compared the smell of the liquid and powder form, and the powder has a very strong smell, almost foul, nothing like the liquid form. I did not taste either, but the difference in smell isn't negligible, it's a very powerful, unmistakable difference. The smell of the powder is so strong, that it remained embedded in the bottles and nipples, and it took me multiple washes, both by hand and in the dishwasher and multiple boilings, to get rid of it. If the smell is so vastly different, the taste must be too.In short, while it's possible that the difference in water played a role in her refusal to eat the powder form, there no doubt in my mind that there is a noticeable difference between the liquid and the powder. If you use liquid and want to shift to powder, I would recommend that you treat the powder as though it's a different formula altogether, and GRADUALLY introduce it to your baby until your baby gets used to it. Don't assume that since it's essentially the same formula, your baby won't notice a difference. Sure, it's POSSIBLE that your baby will easily transition, but it's also possible that s/he won't, so be prepared for that.We ended up donating the $150 worth of formula we brought on our trip, because it didn't make sense to bring it back to the US.

It works, but outrageously expensive and smells bad.
Let me start by saying that I hate almost everything about this product, except the fact that it works. We had to switch from regular formula to Alimentum at the recommendation of the pediatrician due to lactose issues causing bloody stool. This worked and stopped the problem almost immediately. He actually enjoyed drinking this stuff for the six months until we could ween him onto other foods. That's where my appreciation for this product stops. It smells horrible, almost like wet cat food. The price is also outrageous and will likely cost you over $140 per month in formula, at least double that of regular formulas. That's a lot of money for most parents who are also paying for diapers and the other baby expenses. There is no way this product costs the manufacturer double to produce than regular formula and it seems like pure greed at the expense of hard working parents.I'm giving this formula an overall three stars. Five stars for a product that works, and one star for value and the horrible smell.

Terrible compared to ready-to-feed
This is NOT the same as the ready-to-feed! My baby girl newborn was on RTF from the start and we ran out, had to use the powder and omg what a horrible time that was... from the very first bottle baby girl had the worst gas that you could hear in her tummy, instant screaming, we didn’t sleep more than 2 hours if we were lucky. I don’t know why is not the same but my god I am so upset and feel horrible for my baby.

Helped my baby
My daughter was so colicky and constantly crying for hours when she was on the similar pro advance formula.. this was an every day thing from when she was 1-3 weeks old. I changed to this milk and it did seem to help , but the thing I didn’t like was that in her stool there was blood everytime. So me and my husband decided to change her milk to a different formula which is just as good with no blood in her stool.

Great Alternative from buting on Amazon Fresh
I’m glad amazon has the option to buy this off of Amazon fresh! Amazon fresh is great but it’s expensive for me if I just need 1-2 of these. They don’t have many in stock I don’t think which forces you to purchase on fresh I hate that! But the formula is affordable and my baby hasn’t disapproved of the taste. Having a baby with milk allergy / reflux issues is already quite expensive. So again, I’m glad they have this option to buy it.

Only formula that worked for our baby
We tried every type of formula, even prescription and nothing worked better for our 6 month old. Price is really high considering it’s enough for 2-3 days but the Amazon price is much better than the grocery store and pharmacy.

Great formula & I highly recommend
The Proteins in normal milk & dairy products are too big for adults & babies, toddlers to digest. this formula chops up a lot of the proteins finely so that it is easier for babies to digest and it also helps with babies having any type of gas issues related to dairy Inflammation
