A rear cap keeps the mirror, viewfinder screen and low-pass filter free of dust when a lens is not in place (keeps your shutter clean if you're shooting film). This is a replacement cap for the one included with Nikon F-mount cameras. Nikon no longer offers this style, but we do!

These fit my D700 perfectly. I try to keep spares around, and *most* of the time there's a lens on so the body cap is kicking around -- high risk for loss. So it was time to buy another couple to keep in stock.

These caps are acceptable. Obviously, they are original equipment, but do the job just fine. Since they are body caps, they aren't likely to get as much use as other items. I am good with their quality.

"Knock off" body cap, not Nikon made
These are not genuine Nikon brand body caps. You can tell that they are "knock offs" just by looking at them. The quality of the plastic doesn't seem as strong and it just feels like a "second". I'd rather pay a few more bucks and get one from Nikon.

A good cap for the money
They are not as nicely made as the original Nikon caps; I think the plastic is harder. That said, they fit fine and do the job - and for a whole lot less that genuine Nikon caps.
