The Patriot Threat: Book 10
R**N
About as exciting as a suburban shopping mall
Ultimately a very pedestrian and unengaging book. The first chapter is very good - and a short novel in the same vein would be an enjoyable read. The next three to four chapters are kinetic and energising, as a good thriller should be. Then the book slows down and becomes filled with dull, suburban characters doing dull, surburban things. The 'MacGuffin' on which the plot hinges is absurd and intrudes every time it is mentioned. The net result is cardboard cut-out characters squabbling ineptly over something you don't care about in a world devoid of tension.
