Great performance. I’ve named it Beast. Great trimmer and will cut thick branches, but heavy.
I like that it is a multi head tool (PH1400) with a large array of attachments. I purchased the multi tool with the hedge trimmer attachment. The trimmer lives up to it’s claim of cutting 1 inch growth, which is why I call it the Beast. If you don’t want it cut, don’t get it close. It is very maneuverable with dual blade rotation. The blade will rotate to a vertical cutting position or a horizontal position. The blade will also tilt on it’s axis allowing you to easily cut the top of a large shrub, or get behind a wall hugging shrub. If it has any drawbacks, it would be the weight and possibly the battery duration. The Hedge trimmer is definitely heavy. This is necessary in order to have long reach, as well as the ability to cut thick growth. This is not a judgement of the weight, just pointing it out. Because of the weight it performs as advertised. The battery life is adequate, and possibly excellent when changing to slow speed. I have an older Ego blower, which uses the same battery. It’s not that old in terms of hours used, and it’s charge duration has weakened significantly. I understand I can purchase batteries with a higher aH rating, but cost is a definite factor. It would be nice to see some type of battery trade in program for customer retention. In summary, I would definitely purchase again, and recommend to anyone. Neighbors have stopped and asked about when I was trimming the top of an ornamental which is 12 feet high. Granted I was on second rung of a small ladder, but that’s impressive.

Heavy, But Durable
I have some hedges that are 9-10 feet high & my ladder days are long gone. I had a "Greenworks" dedicated extended pole hedge trimmer that broke in half while trimming some high hedges. After some arguing back & forth, Greenworks sent me a replacement - that also split in half after 5 uses. It's not worth ending up in the ER for stitches, so I disposed of it.Since I already have EGO Leaf Blower, String Trimmer & short Hedge Trimmer, and have been very happy with them, I purchased this extended "Power Head" set. It's rather pricey, but it is very durable & it came with another battery & charger (I now have 4).Assembly took 5 minutes. I immediately snapped in one of my batteries & tested it. It works perfectly & (unlike the Greenworks), there is no flex when cutting thicker hedges. The two switches that must be depressed are located exactly where they should be. The speed is variable & the run time is great. I had already used the battery previously in the leaf blower and small hedge trimmer & it had plenty of run time left. The batteries charge quickly.Today, I used the extended hedge trimmer on tall weeds in my back yard, which is 1/2 acre. I set the angle of the blades parallel to the ground as instructed in the manual. With a sweeping motion, it cuts a nice, wide path. The only negative side of this tool is its weight & lack of balance - especially when using it for overhead trimming. Of course, that may not be an issue with younger people. I'm 68 & I was really worn out after 30 minutes of use. But I'd rather have a heavier tool that won't break than a lighter tool that's dangerous to use.

Battery was non-functional after first use
The hedge trimmer worked well….once. Really well. Probably the best hedge trimmer I have ever used. I also bought the pole saw which I have not used yet. Instructions state to fully charge the battery prior to use, which I did. After that, I trimmed for about 25 minutes and the trimmer stopped. I attempted to recharge the battery, but the charger would start and then after 10 seconds quit.Called EGO customer service on Saturday the 2nd. Waited for an answer for about twenty minutes. Finally left a call back number. The CS person called back after about half an hour. The CS person had me do a couple of tests on the battery and told me it was dead. They told me I could return the entire thing through Amazon, or they could ship me a battery. Decided to have them ship me a battery. The CS person told me they could not tell me when the battery would ship.On Wednesday the 6th I called the CS line to see if the battery had been shipped. The new CS person answered within two minutes and told me that the battery has not been shipped. When I asked when the battery would ship, I was told that he doesn’t know when it would be shipped. I asked him if it would be days, weeks, or months. He didn’t have any idea. I asked to speak to a manager. He said that a manager would call me back based upon “priority”. I asked him how they set priority for call backs. He didn’t know. I asked him if I would get a call back today. He didn’t know. I asked him if it would be days, or weeks, or months before a call back. He didn’t know.Within a few minutes I received a call back from a supervisor, who said the battery replacement was activated on Tuesday (the 4th was a holiday), and the shipment will happen within 2 to 3 business days from activation. At that point, UPS will notify me. Really glad that they use UPS. UPS service is top notchThe hedge trimmer is a good product. The CS front line people don’t have all the information necessary to do their job. The reps are concerned, and obviously care about doing the job right. Unfortunately, this customer was left with incomplete information. The manager stated he would communicate to the CS reps what the expected time frame for shipment is. The manager was knowledgeable, concerned, and had the answers to my question. Seems like a well run company with good products.

The weight of the battery impacts it's balance
The trimmer is everything it is supposed to be. However, because of the length of the tool and the weight of the battery, it is a bit awkward to handle due to the uneven weight balance.

Great power
This trimmer worked well on several miles of trail i recently maintained. It handled most of the small stuff well especially Multiflora Rose, and Greenbriar. A single battery lasted about 90 minutes and for a 1.5 miles.
