Loved itπ―
A fun 5 π read for me!This story is somewhat unusual and I would say it's a good depiction of the adults today not seeing things that's hovering right in front of our eyes even if we are running around every waking minute trying to do 'important' things. The story talks about a small girl who happens to be the only one noticing the last dinosaur on Earth as her neighbour while everyone just fails to notice the obvious because of obvious reasons! Yes, no one actually cares (I guess the zombie apocalypse might not be that far because we are turning into zombies by the way!). Okay, that wasn't required at all for this review. Excuse me.And so this young girl tries her best to show some valid proof at least to her mom that there's an actual dinosaur. And like every other adult on Earth, the mom doesn't listen to her kid.Things happen (I don't want to spoil the ending). And it ended fairly well. But yes, the story seems to be a little too far fetched for me. If it was a teeny tiny animal, it would have been a much plausible one. However, it was executed pretty well. The illustrations did it all! Love the artstyle. It makes me nostalgic just looking at the illustrations!A fun book to read and to be read to I say!Pretty hilarious (and satirical for the adults reading it).Thank you #NetGalley for the ARC.

There's a great sense of movement here
I cannot get over how utterly stunning the artwork in this book is. Even for non-readers, or if you just want to page through for something to look at, there is something arresting and intricate on every page. You could leave this on your coffee table and have something to look at every time you opened it. Rubin is an artist who delights in the details, and the way he focuses each panel allows you to find something new and interesting and then, eventually, the dinosaur trying to run out of the book. There's a great sense of movement here, and Rubin pays special attention that one panel flows in the next in order to create a graphic novel that flows from one scene to the next. And the story! There's a lot of great things to pull about a dinosaur hiding in New York, but the thing I loop back to is that it reminds us about the world and that kids will notice things adults have long tuned out. Sure, we can also view this as a reminder to pay attention to this dust ball we're spinning on, but it's also a an important reminder that children (while in possession of a great wealth of imagination) often try and tell us things we don't listen to. And it's important to listen to them because maybe the neighbor IS a dinosaur.

Bolivar is one of my favorite books ever
Bolivar is one of my favorite books ever! The illustrations are so exceptional it almost doesn't do them justice to describe them in words. The main human character, Sybil (seen on the cover of the book) is so heartwarming and endearing. Every character adds to the book sometimes in hilarious ways, Bolivar, the dinosaur, is priceless, too. Every page of the book is meticulously drawn with so much thought and intention, I purchased copies of this book for grandchildren ages eight, seven and five for Christmas gifts. This is a book for boys as well as girls and adults as well as children.Bolivar is an absolute treasure and deserves to be a classic shared from generation to generation, You do not have to live in New York City or be interested in dinosaurs to enjoy this book. This book is above and beyond time and place. It is a book of the heart and what it means to be truly human and truly yourself living in a world of so many distractions, Of course the book is about so much more, but other reviewers cover that information very well, I am going to purchase a copy of Bolivar for myself, It is a book to read and reread because each time you discover something new, I love this book!!

Gorgeous illustrations, sweet story, worth having in hard cover!
I've been looking forward to my copy for a while now, and Bolivar did not disappoint! I had seen sneak previews on the author's page, but you really can't grasp the gorgeous illustration until you see that they are on every. single. page. If you're familiar with New York, you'll be dazzled by how easily the graphics transport you to familiar places; if you're not familiar, consider this the best priced tour you can take!Sybil and Bolivar are both sweet, and I found myself wanting to be friends with them! I'm looking forward to reading this with my son when he's old enough to not try to destroy the pages, and he'll definitely grow into being able to read it on his own.I say get the hard cover - no offense to e-books, but this needs to be savored and lingered over. It's prominently on my shelf now, and several guests have thumbed through it, enjoying the illustrations without reading the full story - so it's a nice little conversation starter as well!

Lushly colored illustrations guide readers through a modern-day New York City - with a fantastic twist: what if dinosaurs lived among us
Sean Rubin's "Bolivar" is the ideal book for the wide-eyed kid in all of us. Who hasn't daydreamed of sighting the mythic Loch Ness monster in a local lake or stumbling onto a gang of dwarves counting their newly-mined gold ingots? However, as we grow into adulthood, we are often forced to bid farewell to these cherished daydreams and fantasies. But Rubin has managed (possibly by magic?) to retain his child-like imagination and use pictures and words to build us a door back to our childhood dreams. The landscape is strange and yet oddly familiar. Lushly colored illustrations guide readers through a modern-day New York City - with a fantastic twist: what if dinosaurs lived among us?For those adventurous enough to read it, "Bolivar" has enough thrills, laughs, and heartwarming moments to satisfy child-like readers of all ages. Take a peek through the door. You might just see a dinosaur.
